Hitch Head Storage
My easiest mod isn't a mod at all. After trying to find a easy storage solution I just mount the hitch and spin it around. No more cluttering up the the limited space in the garage.

That works for sure. Mine goes in the front storage in the space for the hamper as the hamper comes out when we get home and the hitch goes in.

That's what I have been doing for the last year. Saves shins from damage, saves clothes from grease

Hitch Head Storage
Wouldn't that setup make it easier for thieves?

You could still put a locking pin through the 2x2 shaft and lock the latch on the tongue. Where there is a will there is a way but that should slow them down a little or make them look for easier prey. JM2¢, Hank

This is for home storage. I usually leave it on the TV when traveling with a bag tied over it. Most places I go I could install the locking pin, as hank mentioned, and that would be secure, and I always lock the tongue. I'd like to see someone try to swipe a trailer by lining up and backing into the shank. It could be done of course but thieves like to quick about their business. If someone wants it bad enough though...

I have heard many thieves back up with a tow truck. They rap a couple cables around the A frame lift and drive. They deal with the hitch down the road. Anyway, I do not believe someone would be able to back up and line up the hitch if it is locked on..

Never hooked up a Hensley or ProPride have you You'd be surprised how easy it is to line up that stinger.

No, have never seen them. I am talking about the OP set up where he has the shaft just hanging there and someone would need to back straight onto it to fit in the 2 inch square.

That's exactly the way you hitch a Hensley or ProPride. The 2" square "stinger" slips into the receiver as you back up. After doing it a few times, it's really just as easy as backing the ball under the hitch.
For a "thief" who has any practice, it's just as fast to back into the hitch as it is hitch "conventionally"
