deck cover

I am permanently parked in a campground and a lot of the people there have taken off their awning and have put a wooden cover with a tin roof over their deck, although I would like to do this one thing concerns me is all of them have a problem of rain coming in and washing over the side of the trailer.Does anyone have any ideas that would stop this?

Most professional roofs are bolted to the trailer and they use caulking at the connection.
