Just bought a Cougar 27SGS as step up from a bumper pull trailer that was too long and on a truck that was too small! Pulls way better now!

Let me clarify, I got another truck as well!

CURIOUS!
You bought a 30'+ 5th wheel due to your truck being too small for your TT?
WHAT truck do you have?
Normally it goes the opposite direction.

I had a 34 ft bumper pull trailer being pulled by a GMC Sierra 1500 3L diesel. Wasn’t comfortable with it especially getting air from trucks going down the road.

I'd bet a cup of coffee & a dozen donuts that that truck will be overloaded with that 5th wheel!
Check the yellow/white sticker on the drivers door post of YOUR truck, it states "occupants & cargo must not exceed XXXX lbs", that's the payload for that truck. Regardless of the ridiculous max tow weight you've seen or read that payload along with the axles weights posted on the other tag on your door post are the numbers you need to work from.
With YOUR 5th wheel use the GVWR from the manufacturer tag on the drivers side front corner of the RV & calculate 23% of that for a good average pin weight of your rv. To that pin weight add 100-125lbs for the weight of the hitch plus the weight of everyone/everything in/on your truck that did not come from the factory & subtract those weights from the posted payload of your truck.
With your 5er GVWR at 10k+ equals over 2300lbs not to mention the weight of the other items I mentioned, doubtful your 1500 has that much payload. Yes Keystone calls it a "1/2 ton towable" but as you'll find when crunching the numbers it's definitely misnamed.

Keystone website says 1495 kingpin. That would be before anything like propane and batteries. What does your payload sticker say?

It would have been, which is why I got a new truck, which would have helped with the other trailer. Have a Ram 2500 4x4 w/ 6.7 Cummins diesel....and actually it’s close on payload but is way better then the setup I had!

I got an entirely new set up, even though they tried to tell me my GMC would be fine. I knew better.

Welcome from Utah!
You're Cougar is a little bigger and heavier than ours but really close. You're going to love the diesel difference and the tow-ability with the fiver. We're super happy with ours.

Welcome from NH.

I did something similar. Although my 2016 Ram ecodiesel worked out with the numbers our first trip was a long one so we upgraded to a new 2020 Ram Cummins. I felt comfortable towing with both, but the torque is so great getting on the highway and the diesel brake is just a big asset I don't know how I've towed all these years (good size boat and trailer cars) without it.

Welcome to the site..We also purchased a 2020 27SGS. and love it. Do your cabinet doors open all the way next to the recliners, or are yours open. There was a engineering flaw in the design. Ours only open half way if that because of the slides.
