No facts quoted on dates or any other information other than my opinions!
I can't prove anything as far a COVID numbers & I (in my opinion) DO NOT believe any of the numbers being announced, it has turned into a political (hopefully now that's over) football being tossed, fumbled, turned over so many times by the biased news/social media & has become a financial benefit to the medical community, mask makers & about every other business/manufacturer raising prices "due to COVID".
As I stated, with fingers crossed, that this crap is over by January, but with recent events it's unlikely some of it will never end.
Thankfully 2020 is coming to a close & again fingers crossed, GOOD LORD willing, 2021 will be better.
Our pastor had a great suggestion this morning, "take a week off from all media sources" & when you think about it "say a prayer for our country, it could sure use it right now!".
This is not a political statement of any kind, only my opinion, for what little that's worth!

There are many open sites in Florida this season due to the US/Canadian border closure. Most Parkes adhere to the CDC 3 questions before they mandate a quarantine. Masking, distancing and closures very county by county in Florida. The further you stay from the I-4 corridor, and Miami area the better. I have found the KOA's have a consistent Corvid policy in place and have always felt safe stopping at one.

Safe Travel's and welcome to the sunshine state

How is it out there? Well, just completed my quick trip from TX to FL. How is it? Like every other year. Great trip and no issues.

All places use masks to some degree - more or less. Seems most are recognizing the situation for what it is. Always have a mask for those places that require them, don't wear one when social distancing is possible. Everything open and welcoming.

As far as stats, and this isn't political....just inexact science; if you test every human for XXX vs nothing else, that number is going to be huge. IF we put up testing stations at every border entrance, hospital, drive thrus etc. and tested for colon cancer or hemhorrhoids etc. we would have an epidemic of them.

It's good out there, don't worry about it IMO. I'm having a fresh seafood platter tomorrow evening....and not worrying.

For any of you that have been on the road during this pandemic, do you feel like you can stay appropriately separated from other people? Does it feel safe out there?

We are considering heading south down to the Savanah GA area and just slowly making our way from there down to the south west of Florida with no solid plan. We'll just need to stay places with cell coverage so I can continue to work and my daughter can do her school work.

I cant decide wether to just go for it, or if we should hunker down and wait for things to mellow out, maybe hope for an early spring trip.

I'd love to leave VT at the end of January with no real timeframe for getting home.

Thoughts?
No real problems.
Unless the state still has some odd closure or quarantine rules depend on the campground or park to tell you availability.
Everywhere expect to adhere to social distancing even on hiking trails. Some places my still have only take out available, but grocery and fuel stops are still open. National parks are opening back up eith some limitations because of staffing. There are more new RV’ers hitting the road so reservations need to be made ahead of your route.
Rrmember RV’ing is an adventure!

Other than dome attractions that are closed or about to reopen no problems.

We've just arrived at our regular winter spot in NW GA just above Atlanta from rural upstate NY. All seems normal here. We spent two weeks in Charleston SC on the way down and all was good there. Parks are practicing Covid protocols and for the most part non contact check in. We had no problem getting overnights along the way though we did make reservations. I think the closed Canadian border has given us some room. Like you we have a private site at our daughter's here in GA. If you have that set up in FL I say go for it. We brought enough food to cover the trip down and using our own rest facilities our only contact was fuel pumps and there I just glove up and sanitize when done.
Now that we're here, Kroger and Aldi's has curbside pick up so grocery contact is also minimal. I know the case count down here is higher than at home but we're not worried, just be careful just like we would be doing at home.

Perfect thank you so much for sharing. We have started making reservations and we're going to go for it. Obviously pending something crazy happening.

Thanks again.

Just finished a long trip south

Next door to you....

We live in a town with (to date) zero cases, but promised our Covid ICU nurse daughter we would travel to our son's wedding in Alabama without flying, hotels, restaurants, etc. So we bought a travel trailer (our first).

Our destination was Lake Martin in Alexander City, AL we stayed a number of nights at Wind Creek State Park - it was very good, had availability but no wifi (i used 4G cell when there). Traveled and picked campgrounds every 6-7 hours of driving stayed one full day just to chill out. You will have to plan though as some were full and I think some of the more northern closed in Nov. But we planned ahead and really had to only make one shopping trip in the 16 day trip. All bathroom/lunch breaks were a quick stop into the trailer.

I can't think of one stop (fuel, campground, shopping) where 'social distancing'/'masks' were not required indoors. And all of our 'site neighbors' were friendly but conscientious in terms of maintaining their distance when saying hello.

In the end, it was piece of mind for my family and a great experience. My take away from the experience is that it was 180 degrees different than the disaster you see on the news.

We just arrived at the Space Coast (Titusville, FL) from the Memphis area. Everything is open, masks are generally the rule of the day, Florida diesel is high as a cat's back, most large RV dealer's stock is packed full.
We had one episode at a Ruby Tuesday along the way where the waiter had set the tables for a group of 12 next to us. They were all arriving, masked I might add, and it happened to be when we were finished.
We will head out after a few days at the beach (if storm Eta will leave us alone) to Clewiston for the winter. Y'all be careful out there!

We ate at a Dennys in Boerne a couple weeks ago and noted the menu had gotten truncated but the surprising thing was they had put up big acrylic partitions between the booths. All the condiments were gone (had to ask for ketchup, Tabasco and salt/pepper), silverware was in a paper covering and the waitress wore a mask. Some of the patrons came in and out wearing masks, others no. I think the tables were farther apart. With the probable change in the political landscape, suspect things will tighten up dramatically as the govt will likely push very strict covid rules so all bets off.

It's pretty random. Some states have had huge populations of zombies walking around. Carry self defense items, and make sure you have plenty of sterile kits and toilet paper. The zombies mainly inhabit population centers, so I'd avoid those areas if at all possible.

Just got home from New England; 8 days on the road. It was difficult to find an open campground north of Maryland this time of year, so we stayed in family's driveway several times (and of course got in a short visit, albeit at a distance and masked). A campground in Gretna, VA followed strict protocols with masks and distancing, even when checking in. Another in Walterboro, SC wasn't so picky; a patron was in the office without a mask and the clerk wasn't wearing one when I walked in, but when the clerk saw me wearing a mask as I entered she donned one and the maskless patron left the building. Some gas stations are putting out thin plastic gloves or bags to use to cover your hands and/or provide hand sanitizer, others are not. Traffic was generally light (we basically stuck to back roads, so the major highways may have been a different story) but there seemed to be no decrease in the number of people in a hurry to get somewhere.

Left home from the space coast today - headed for cooler weather in the Smokies. Stopped for the night in Points South, SC. The campground escort to our site disinfected the hookups before he left our site. Staff all masked, even in the bistro where I paid $6 for a 16oz Taddy Porter on tap. That was a very good beer though. Campground is packed full. It’s a travel week. Crazy drivers on 95.

Thanks for the info. I have my fingers crossed that we will be able to head south in Feb.
