Motorcycle behind 30' FW

I want to take along my 800lbs motorcycle with my 30' Cougar FW any ideas??(Lift/Fixed mount Trailer etc.)

I don't think there is a simple or cheap solution. I know of a few options if they fit your needs. get a toy hauler, or I attached a picture of a truck that has an option and the link for the hitch is http://www.automatedsafetyhitch.com or something like this may work because it has a separate set of wheels to support the motorcycles weight http://www.mountainmaster.net/hitchloaderdolly.html but like I said the 5000 plus price tag on these may offset the cost of a new camper. you could also have a hitch mounted on your camper and tow a small utility trailer behind it. but I'm not sure if your allowed to do that in your state. there are others on this forum that may know better than me.

The first thing I'd do is talk to your local police and get the "real scoop" on towing behind a fifth wheel in Florida. It's my understanding that it is illegal, but due to "tourist dollars" many LEO's "look the other way". Do they do the same for locals? Find out before you invest much into a solution.....

There are several concepts to towing a motorcycle, on a separate trailer, on a front wheel dolly, on a rack that supports the front wheel and the rear wheel rolls on the ground. I think you could easily "develop" a solution with a local welding/metal fabrication shop, but first, I'd find out what will do the job AND keep you out of the LEO's gunsights......

I've hauled a lot of dirt bikes on one of the hitch carriers but none if came close to 800 pounds. The best one made in my opinion is Versahaul and they make several versions for different types of bikes. That might be an option assuming you could get a receiver welded to the back of your 5th wheel. Do not go cheap on the bike carrier. I've seen a lot of different versions used and the Versahaul and one other brand were the only ones I'd personally use. You can check their website out to see the options and if they make one for your bike. That is a lot of weight for a hitch carrier in the receiver. The Versahauls are very heavy themselves but very well made. They also have a stabilizer which would be a must. They have red reflectors on the rear of them but they also make a light kit to install.

I have a hitch mounted on the front of my truck so I can move smaller trailers around easier. I have a bike carrier that I mount in that hitch that will hold my 400 cc dirt bike but it doesn't weigh anything close to 800 lbs. Trade for a smaller bike or trade for a toyhauler. I would not try to hang that much weight on the back of a FW even with one wheel on the ground.

Get a toy hauler. You definitely don't want to pull the bike on a trailer behind your RV...IMO. My trailer is 37' and my son in law just asked if I would pull his two bikes behind the RV to Sturgis if he paid to have a hitch installed. I told him no way in no uncertain terms. You don't say what your TV is but if it is gas you have a very difficult time finding accessible fueling stations with just the trailer; trying to negotiate into some of those filling stations with tandem trailers would not be challenging, it would be impossible. Even with a diesel you would be really limited in some locations. All that in addition to the legal issues you would face from state to state.

I drive tandem tractor trailers for a living and can assure you that once you attach a dolly or a second trailer, you won't be backing up until you disconnect the set. Rather inconvenient when pulling into unfamiliar locations...... When I want to take my motorcycle with me, I put it inside my toyhauler. If it were me, I'd put the money it would cost for a motorcyle hauling bandaid into a decent toyhauler.

At 800 pounds I think you're only option is a trailer if not using a toy hauler. The Versahaul is only rated to 600 pounds and it's the most well built carrier I've seen and I've owned at least two of them. I looked at all of them and it's the one I trusted my bikes on.

800 pounds would require at least a Class IV hitch and I don't see that happening on the back of a 5th wheel even if you found a carrier weighted for your bike. The bike carriers are great, just not for a bike that heavy. Good luck, here are a couple of possible options but they are not cheap.

This is what I was going to recommend. I currently haul my Harley and my RZR on a trailer behind my 5er (not at the same time), but plan to add the 58 dual wheel instead. I have a 2 seat RZR Trail so I could put that or my Harley across the rear of my RV on the cruiser lift.

My neibour has this one, they added a third axel behind the two factory ones and then attached this. he said it is a dream, solid keeps the bike high enough there are no worries or crap getting on it.
