Traveling I-20 in AL and looking for an overnighter site? This is the place. Pull-in, park, walk to the drop box and pay for your site. All sites are FHU (30 & 50 amps) The CATV is basic and all channels (about 20) are clear. We always get in there early, so I can do some fishing. Never got a big one but always catch one or two nice ones. Never have tried to stay there during a NASCAR racing weekend but have asked and all say it’s always full-up all week.
We've used this RV Park about 6 times. It's easy to use and most sites are level or close to it.
Here a couple of pictures of the overnight section. The link is active and has more detailed information.

While traveling along I-70 out to Denver to see nephews we spent a night at the Ellis (KS) Lakeside Campground ( https://ellis.ks.us/campground/). It is situated on the banks of a dammed river a short distance from the Interstate.
Walter Chrysler was born here, and his family home is now a museum. The first time we came through it was on a day the museum was closed. Unfortunately it was the same situation our second pass through. However, when paying at City Hall (we used the drop box the first time) we were told who to contact and we could get into the museum. It was opened just for us. Small towns are great!

Our granddaughter went to Georgia Southern University–Armstrong Campus at Savannah. Whenever traveling I-95 in that area we would always stop and take her out for dinner and a chat.
The easiest RV Park/CG for us to use was the KOA just off I-95. It’s in a low area and becomes saturated whenever it rains. That makes for unsightly parking sites. We always got a pull through FHU site with CATV and close to the park office/store. The park has a 7 acre lake and full of black bass. I almost always got a 5 pounder.

We seldom used State Park CGs. Their sites may be antiquated and too small for our 38 footer. However, we do make exceptions. This one is a double exception because it only had water/elect and we had guests with us on this trip to New England.
We had been traveling north on the very scenic NY-37 highway when we saw the Coles Creek SP CG advertisement. Their billboard said large waterfront sites available so we decided to take a look-see. Well they sure were large and the one we chose paralleled the water edge.
The park ranger delivered us some fire wood for the fire ring. (Almost all of the northern states do not, or will not, allow wood from elsewhere. Parasitic wood destroying bugs are a problem).
We never did unhook because we just spent the day we arrived and the next whole day and left the following morning. All exits had very nice dump stations with very good water pressure for rinsing. (During the 14 years we owned our Everest, the black tank indicator valves never failed).
This is a great park to visit. I even got some smallish fish from the rocky bank at our site. I use a crappie spinner-jig.

Grants, NM
While traveling east in NM on I-80 we were looking for a place to spend the night when we saw the Dancing Eagle Casino out in nowhere NM, just west of Grants. Knowing that most of the Indian casinos have some sort of RV parking, we got off I-80 for a look-see.
Sure enough they had a well protected parking area with a well lit pathway to the casino where we could get an evening meal. Upon registering at the casino, we were each given a $10 coupon usable anywhere on the reservation. We used them the next morning at their fuel center.
The site had water & elect. There was a dump station at the park exit with good running water connections for rinsing the tanks - if we use our tanks for anything, we dump and rinse them. Our trailer's built-in rinsing system always performed well.
We seldom put out our large living room slide for overnight parking. The two left side slides provide us access to everything.

Tunica, MS
The ambiance of Casinos Resorts has always intrigued us. Over the years we’ve visited all of the major ones from NJ to NV. We’ve stopped at Indian casinos all across the country. Sometimes casinos have outstanding RV parks, even some of the smaller ones in meccas, like Biloxi or Tunica, MS or the monsters like Fox Woods in CT. However, we were never comfortable at any of the Atlantic Beach, NJ casinos because of the neighborhoods they were built in.
In the Tunica, MS area we’ve stayed at the four major casino RV parks. This one is at Sam’s Town. It’s a little too far to walk to the casino but they provide free van rides. All of the sites at Sam’s Town are 50 AMP FHU sites with CATV. It’s risky to stay at Sam’s during the rainy season because the lower sites will get flooded. We stay at the Hollywood when excess raining is forecasted. (That’ll be in another posting).
Like most of the Casinos in the Tunica area van tours to various points of interest are run by the RV Park office. An all day tour to Memphis, TN is highly recommended. They have a lunch stop in the famous music section of town.
We normally stay at this sort of RV Park 2-3 nights depending on the comps.

Lisbon, CT
(Long story for a short stay). One year while traveling south for a couple of winter months; we – at the last minute – decided to visit some of our money at Foxwood near Lisbon, CT. Instead of taking our normal routes from I-290 to I-84 (bypassing the toll on I-90) we went south on I-395 to Lisbon.
It was a Thursday and we planned on staying three nights at the Odetha CG at Bozrah, CT. We have stayed there numerous times and never had a problem with getting a site without reservations until this time. So we took a long lunch stop and started shopping for a place to stay. We found the Deer Haven CG way off the beaten path but with easy traveling time to Foxwoods. All of their FHU sites were reserved and they had a single – no regulars wanted it – with W/E and gray water. With just the two of us we can easily do three days on gray water because we weren’t going to be there at the trailer except for sleep and rest. Well, the site was out behind a CG building that housed the CG office, a well stocked country store and the owner/manages residence.
When we got to the CG we were sure they were pulling our leg about being booked-up. I’m glad I didn’t mention it because at dark thirty the place was full.
The CG is about two miles down a narrow paved road. Coming back from the casino in the wee hours we saw wild animals every time.
Surprisingly the park was clean including all common areas. There is a nice little swimming/fishing pond.

Fredericksburg, VA – KOA
We got snubbed pretty badly at this KOA. We were headed south for some of the winter months and had left I-81 at Winchester, VA to take US-17 down to I-95 and ultimately connect to I-85. We were going to spend a couple of weeks at Greenville, SC. This was not a normal route for us but we wanted to explore US-17 – a nice drive on a well maintained US highway.
When we got to Fredericksburg we opted to drive down a 7 mile county road to the KOA. We did not call as it was a Wednesday and almost all KOAs have sites during week days. Right away the manager didn’t want to give us a site because they had a large caravan arriving on Friday. We never did figure-out why they didn’t want us there. But, we had an advantage, our KOA card was golden and once they found that out they put us in a back-in spot down in the “south forty”, even though they had nice long pull-thrus close to the CG store.
The CG is old and the sites were quite antiquated but had FHUs with CATV. While exploring a smallish lake to see if I could do some evening fishing I found there was a large family of beaver there. The management was having a hard time getting the fish and game people to move them.
This KOA is an exception from the norm in that it’s not close to any major highway. However the CG store was well stocked and some of the CG areas were modern with a nice sized swimming pool.
This link is active but a little deceiving.

Tunica, MS
I kind of got sidetracked with my RV Park/CG postings by starting too many of them. I'd like to be able to consolidate all of them in just one thread but the challenges of doing so is just too complicated and time consuming.
From now on (5-3-21), all of my RV parking posts will be in this thread. I write every post from scratch and I'm pretty sure duplicates will be worded differently.
Hollywood RV Park, Tunica, MS.
We have always enjoyed riverboat gambling - Mississippi style. We started vacationing in the Gulfport/Biloxi area long before we ventured into full time RVing. Our favorites were the Grand in Gulfport and the Isle of Capri in Biloxi. The Isle of Capri was also our favorite hotel. When we went RVing we stayed at the Military RV parks at the Naval construction base at Gulfport and the Kessler AFB at Biloxi. After they were severely storm damaged we shifted our travels to Tunica County up near Memphis and used the numerous casino campgrounds. We have used all of them so there will be more postings in this area.
The Hollywood casino is one of four casinos located at the very southern end of Casino Strip Resort Blvd. It does not have the largest parking spaces but it has location. The RV park is bordered on two sides by the golf course - you can walk to the clubhouse - Another side is near the employee parking lot and the last is the park office and back entrance to the casino. There are eight handicap - big rig - sites behind the park office. From there you cross a two way park road and enter the back entrance to the casino. All RV park residents have access to that entrance.
The park office also acts as the resident ticket office for any bus/van tours of the local area attractions, including an all day round trip to Memphis and back which includes lunch at a rustic Beale, St. location.
All of the area casino RV Parks offer big rig parking and FHU sites. If you’re just interested in parking for the night you can park in one of the large parking lots and hitch a ride to the casino with a passing shuttle.
Prices are very reasonable. There is a wide range of discounts and comps are available making parking there for extended stays very attractive to the full timer.
