Rodman Campground is approximately ten miles south of Palatka, Florida, just south of the Barge Canal on the west side of State Road 19. I did a Google Maps search on “Rodman, FL” and went right to it. This campground is under the jurisdiction of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Greenways and Trails. It is on land once designated for the Cross Florida Barge Canal.
There are two RV areas and a primitive campground. The older RV area is near the boat ramp to the reservoir. The sites are somewhat small but there is a new bathhouse. About half the lots in the new RV area front on the canal. The sites in the new area are much larger.
Just a mile from the entrance to the campground is the dam. There are fishing piers on both sides of the Ocklawaha River and a boat ramp for access.
If you have a boat you can enter the reservoir, go east through the canal, through the lock and into the St Johns River.
The State lands back up to the Ocala National Forest which is accessible by vehicles across the dam.
