HVAC thermostat

I posted about this once before but I’m at the point It has to be changed out.

Is there any decent digital thermostats out there? Guessing I can’t use a residential unit.

The placement is just dumb. Always gets hit when climbing into the bunks. One night the slider got moved all the way cold, woke up to it being 58 degrees one morning. Another night the switch got moved from a/c to fan only. I need someway to keep the controls from getting constantly bumped.

How about installing a plastic cover over it?

Like this (just for example): https://www.grainger.com/product/3FVR2

That will be my last resort. With as often as the unit gets hit I’m afraid anything sticking out farther will end up getting broken or used as a step as they go down blind.

Following, hopefully there is a better alternative, mine is in a great place, just inside the door. But it seems that it has to go up after the compresser kicks off 5 or 6 degrees before it kicks back on. Wakes you up because it gets so hot.

They do make a digital version of that thermostat. The buttons are about the same though. The temperature adjustment is a pair of up/down buttons next to the digital display.

I replaced my analog one because of the large temperature swings.
