Useless features

Does your trailer have a feature that left you wondering why Keystone made you pay for something so dumb?

Mine is an exterior fireplace. If I want a fire while outside I’ll light a real one. Only thing I can think of why is because on the other side is a hidden pantry. They didn’t extend the shelving to the bottom so there was empty space. Maybe they thought it would be useless for storage? I don’t know.

I’m very tempted to take it out and use it as a storage space anyways.

The hook up mirror on the cap that immediately started turning black and I didn't use it anyway.
The shelves in the washer/dryer closet. With a little thought they could have put them in where I wouldn't have to destroy one of them to install my combo washer dryer.

Outside fireplace? In all my years, I think that takes the cake.

An exterior fireplace?!! I've never seen, or heard, of such a thing. Totally a waste of electrical power.

Outdoor fireplace to me is not totally ridiculous! I can't remember the last place we stayed that allowed a real campfire so that would not have been totally wasted in some cases.
With that said, there's no way I would order a RV with an outdoor fireplace!!!

Does JAYCO have a trailer with an outdoor fireplace??? Does Forest River ???

That might be your answer as to why Keystone installed one... Their cost: about $50. The number of trailers they sell (more than JAYCO and FR) : Priceless LOL

I have a single blue LED light up in the "shoe garage" that's under the dinette seat at the entry door. Operated by one 12v switch next to the other 12v switches that actually have good purposes. That's useless in my opinion. Brant, RE: your fireplace... that's unreal. Never would I have ever thought they would cut a hole and attache a door for a fireplace. My son-in-law has a 39' Forest River, the factory mounted an outdoor TV mount, directly above the furnace exhaust. That was good thinking on Forest River's design team!

I did not comment earlier when I saw this because I thought "how in the world"? That said, Brant, since this is a 19 did you actually buy or spec that trailer with that "feature"?? Because, yes, as you observed, that is not only useless, it's just weird and unneeded.

The 29DFS was a new floor plan for 2019. The outdoor fireplace was a standard feature. I believe it is there for 2020 models as well.
At first I dismissed the trailer solely based on the fireplace. However we loved the floor plan overall so I decided to just overlook it. I asked my sales guy his thoughts. He of course wouldn’t come right out and say it was dumb but he mentioned everyone that looked at the trailer commented on it and none was for the positive. Lol

I guess the only positive is that if the fireplace inside ever conks out I have a ready replacement.

I get what your saying, but still. Lol

Other than PDI this was the only time it’s been used and only cause it was the inaugural night.

Are you sure it isn't an LED string that isn't working properly? We have one of those bordering the floor around our dinette seats. Not sure what to make of it. Even my nightlight-loving grandson (who has to sleep on the dinette "bed") says it keeps him awake.

Elsewhere, I posted a photo of my campground cable TV connector that they located behind my license plate.

I'd yank that thing out of there the afternoon we got it home! I would be afraid all our friends would make fun of us...

People that delete such a fine piece of Keystone engineering are "me me me" types and don't care a lick about the environment (campground ambiance)!

I hope your camping neighbors don't think your TT is on fire! I would put a larger television there if it were me.

Useless items? In our case, the washer-dryer hook-ups for a washer and dryer that will never be. But, I still have to figure out a way to winterize those water lines that come up into the closet.

On the other hand, the ice maker in the refrigerator is WONDERFUL!

I can't remember the last place that didn't allow or provide for a campfire. There have been a few drought periods where open fires were banned but that's typically been only a few weeks.

Once we went full-time that was the end of state park camping mostly due to our size & DW said if we're living in this it will function just like the house which meant 50 amp, sewer & water at every stop which very few privately owned parks we went to allowed open fires.
We hauled & enjoyed the little gas fire pit, which were allowed, for awhile but storage for other stuff was needed so it was gone. There were times afterwards it would've been nice to sit in front of that fireplace, which takes up no storage, outdoors while enjoying an adult beverage, or 3 or 4.
But as I said NO WAY would I have ordered it that way.

Careful, careful!! You sound exactly like I did right up until the moment DW said, "I hate doing laundry in those machines. I want a washer and dryer." I says with raised eyebrow "seriously". She did not reply, just cocked her head and raised HER eyebrows. I am now the proud owner of a new trailer WITH washer and dryer.....

If you ever roll through Iowa I’d make you a heck of a deal and then YOU can be a proud owner of an outdoor fireplace. 🤣🤣
