Mattress

Taking possession of the new Springdale 298BHSSR next weeek and heading out on the weekend with it. Can anyone tell me about the mattresses in these (In the Queen bedroom). Are they comfy or terrible? My previous TT I had to put in a new one. Let me know!!

I have a Laredo & the mattress was really bad. I corrrected the situation by purchasing a 4" Serta Memory Foam mattress topper at overstocked.com. It solved the problem. My mattress is 60x80 full queen, if yours is 60X75 you can cut the topper.

"Comfy or terrible"? If the mattress in the Springdale is like that found in most other models, I would start looking for a new one. If you still have your old TT, you might want to switch them out. Keystone's spring mattresses are not noted for their comfort - but rather for their springs.

yep, just sitting on it will "bottom" out.
We bought a 3" memory foam topper from Wal*mart as a quick fix. Worked very well. Still not great, but MUCH better.

We bought a Springdale fifth wheel last year (2011 model). We tried diligently to sleep on the mattress. Made it, I think, 5 nights before we headed to CW and bought their replacement mattress. Best mod we've done to the trailer

If you decide to get a new mattress, make sure you measure, I don't think Springdale uses any "full size" queen mattresses, to my knowledge, they are all the short queen. 60" wide and 74" long.

As most have reported, the mattress "ain't comfortable" and some have added toppers, some have bought new mattresses and I suppose some have endured the old.....

Thanks for the replies. I would trade my current TT Mattress out but it is a Full 80 inches and with the wall in the new TT I dont think I will have enough room to get around the mattress. Guess I will go with the foam top.

I have a 2011 Laredo with the full 80" mattress. I added a 1" memory foam topper from Walmart (from my previous TT) and have not had a bad nights sleep in it.
I am was a pretty happy camper with this setup... (pardon the pun)

We added a 3" memory foam onto our mattress. Our bed is a kingsize.

They aren't cheap, but Temp-Flo will make you one in any size you want, and it will be comfortable I'd bet.

I will ad to the number of people who have added memory foam toppers. We put a 2.5" topper from Sams club on our wafer thin mattres from our old camper and it was night and day. The mattress in our new-to-us keystone was actually not too bad with a pillow top and all but we still put the topper on it. You just can't beat the transformation a little bit of memory foam makes.

I will say though that not all memory foam toppers are created equal.

Memory Topper

Hey, at age 68, I can still "dream".... I was wondering how a 40 something, blue eyed blonde, about 5'7 would work as a "memory" mattress topper?

God bless RV'ing.....LOVE IT !!

OK, OK, only kidding...take it easy....Happily married to the same beautiful, blue eyed blonde for 45 years. I was having a senior flashback moment.

I bought two 1.5" foam toppers (it was cheaper than buying one 3-4" topper) for ours and it's pretty comfortable.
