spare tire

I took a 500 mile trip from Santa Rosa Ca to San Diego the tire cover was
half off and the spare tire bolts were lose so i tightened the bolts two
weeks later drove back to Santa Rosa after a great camping trip
at Santee lake.
well the tire cover was gone and the bolts were lose again,so i'am thinking
of putting the tire under the front of the trailer with a crank down to the
ground,I saw that someone has done this, saw it on this site but can't find it I did a seach but no luck, the next thing would be to put it in the bed of the truck

First thing I did was take that piece of junk off my bumper. My bolts were loose to. Lucky I didn't kill someone. I think I read there was a recall or something on the carriers. Since then I have been throwing the spare in the back of the truck, but that is a pain.
I too would be interested to see what others are using to stow it under the fiver on the frame.

my 325 srx has the spare mounted under the unit with a crank. I can not see how it is mounted but it must bolt on.

I've watched too many spares bouncing around on bumper mounts to trust them. Mine goes in the bed of the truck in front of the hitch. Hank

Spare Tire Winch

I too have the same issue and will be mounting mine under my 5'er this next week. My plant manager has his under his 5'er as well.

I am sure you can get these cheaper at an auto zone or something. (or not...dunno).

Either way, the bumper mount scares me.

I understand your "fear" of bumper mount spare tire holders. Just in case you might be interested, Lippert has a double drawer underframe storage unit that has a spare tire ratchet assembly mounted centerline. It appears this storage unit bolts to the frame under the front of the trailer, just behind the jacks. It might be an option to just a spare tire mount.

Thanks for this thread! I've been through the same and looking at options too... Although having the tire appear to be falling off keeps the traffic off my rear! Just kidding
