Mothers checking in?

Yes, today is Mother's Day and I know we have mothers from Georgia to Minnesota, Texas to California and north to Canada. A "Happy Mother's Day" to all of you. We kept our 14 month old grandson last night to give his parents a night out and now I remember why someone more astute than I once said "Children are for the young."
A salute to each and every one of you.

Yes, children are for the young, but having them around keeps one young, I keep telling myself! My husband (age 62) and I (age 60) babysit our nearly four year old granddaughter all day at least one Saturday a month, when both parents have to work (daycare is closed then, of course). We usually plan fun activities (yesterday we went strawberry picking at an organic farm, then went out to lunch, then Dairy Queen later for a snack; when the water gets warmer, we'll take her to the neighborhood pool).
We're always both whipped at the end of the day - lol! Soon, she'll have a little sister - double the fun!!

Happy Mother's Day!

PLUS ONE to all of the fine mothers out there!

Just remember Jim, the great thing about grandkids is that you get to give them back when you get tired.

One of the best things about "Mother's Day" is watching my DW open the gifts/flowers/goodies delivered to our door from our two grown sons.
It is gratifying to know that they love and respect their mother. They were typical boys growing up (not a bad thing) and now that they have families of their own, they seem to appreciate her all the more. The old saying: "A son is a son until he takes a wife - a daughter is a daughter all of her life" doesn't hold so true with my sons - also not a bad thing.

My darling husband asked me what I wanted to do for Mother's Day. I wanted to go camping - so we did. Loved it - spent time relaxing and enjoying the great outdoors - then the furnace quit working. Really - so we took off to Bed Bath and Beyond and purchased a heated mattress pad. That worked fine. Now my DH has to figure out why the furnace stopped working. At least here in MI we are starting to warm up so it is not really urgent (but then again it is MI, you never know).
