Thunder Storm

We had a thunder storm go through our campsite last week when we were in the city. We returned to our camper to find our AC and furnace running and the display on the thermostat was blank with no LEDs lit. I assumed a power surge took out the thermostat so I replaced it. Thermostat display gave me a E1 (communication problem) and after approx. 5 minutes the display went blank while all LED segments remain lit. Where would I start looking? I measured 12 V at the thermostat.

Thanks

Try the orange wire that goes from the thermostat to the control unit in the "air box' which is in the air conditioner overhead unit.

Is the access from inside or on the roof? Will that also solve the furnace running?
Thanks

Inside. Remove the A/C interior cover.
