Santa Clarita to Julian, CA

First time going to Julian, CA in our 212 Springdale TT. Staying at Pinezanita Campground. Wondering which road(s) to take out of Temecula. Right now I'm leaning towards taking the 76 (at Pala Mesa) to the 79 and on to the campground. Seems like everyone says on other sites to stay away from the 78 as it's slow (around Ramona) and twisty.

Any comments/suggestions?

After doing some more research, I've decided to take the 79 out of Temecula to where it meets with the 76. Turn left at the 78 (Julian Rd.) and continue on through Julian on the 79 to our campground at Pinezanita. The distance/time was about the same. I'll ask more about the other route once I'm up there. Maybe this will help someone in the future.

So, we just returned from camping, and here's the road update for anyone in the future. I took the 79 from the I-15 through Santa Ysabel and Julian and to our campground. The road is fine. A little bumpy early on, then some straight-aways, then some curves, but nothing bad. The "worst" (twisty) road was on the 79 just out of Julian, about a mile past the 79/78 intersection. All mountain roads are twisty and have grades somewhere, but this wasn't bad.
