repair and maintenance

I am have a problem with my 12 volt system. I have 120 volts going into converter, 9.5 volts coming out of converter, 9.5 volts at battery. Does anyone know of something other than a bad converter?

Bad CONVERTOR is the issue.

It's probably either a bad converter or a short or some other heavy load dragging the converter output voltage down.

I would start by disconnecting the battery. If the converter is now putting out 12V, then take your battery in for load testing.

If the converter is still only putting out 9.5, then disconnect the converter output wires and check the converter with no load. If still at 9.5, then the converter is bad.

If it puts out 12V with no load, troubleshooting gets a bit more complicated unless you have a DC ammeter that can range up to the maximum output of your converter.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking bad converter but just needed a 2ed opinion. With no load the converter output is only 9.5 volts. Thanks

+1 exactly what jtyphoid said.

Just make sure you understand that when he says "no load" he means that the converter output (12v) must be disconnected from the camper. If you did that and it is still at 9v then your converter is bad.
