Not mention eating out! If you can eat anywhere for under $10 a head you've found a bargain.
So with the fuel prices it's about a wash whether hauling your rv staying in rv parks or in your car staying in decent hotels, either will cost about $200+ per day!
I am a cheap skate and am still looking for those $19 a night motels. The missus definitely gets irritated at me when I look for the cheapest place to stay. Those were the good ol' days. I get nervous about staying in a Motel 6 for fear I will pay over $50 a night. We just celebrated our 50th and are taking of for a week in March (too much going on local this month) and I gave the missus an unlimited budget; she is a B&B fan and loves Victorian places so I found out there are none for $19 a night. She made the reservations.... I will probably be sick to my stomach the whole time we are having our romantic getaway as thos places are more pricey than motels.

I thought we did pretty good for 79 a night with breakfast. Hope your B&B doesn't break the bank nor the romantic getaway.

The cost of fuel relative to all the other costs associated with camping is relatively small. As inflation drives up prices, other options like flights/hotels/restaurants rise as well, if you look at the alternatives to camping. My wife and I already have a couple weekends (or longer) booked monthly from April to August already, though nothing in June due to my youngest’s wedding in Spain. We’ll finish booking into October as we can. We’ll pay for fuel, no biggie. Two years of remote working have saved me 500 miles a week in commuting to the office. That’s a lot of fuel savings for two years that I’ll put toward camping and relaxation. Lord I’m ready for spring.

Oh, and Dutchman, we are making it a point to hit every state park in Michigan. I love our state (except for our roads and winter lol) and we have some incredibly beautiful state parks. Most of our trips planned so far with the exception of two are in state. Interestingly, the DW and I were just talking tonight saying we might need to hit Pokagon State Park again in August. A beautiful park in your state. Another option I’m considering is Turkey Run southwest of Indianapolis in later August.

Maybe to throw a wet blanket on the 'we've got high gas prices' party, here is a graph dating back to 1990 with the actual gas prices across the country up until this month/week. This graph won't allow you to fill your tank cheaper, but you might realize that things are about on course, price-wise. Sorry, I didn't look at the diesel graph.
