double sided tape for tub surround
I am going to pull the trigger on a replacement shower surround. I would like to use a combo of 1/4" plastic rivets and double sided tape; from what I have read, this is the way to go. I will seal the plastic rivets with silicon as I install them. What type/brand of double sided tape would be best? I have looked all over and can't find any info on this. I am not sure if comes with the Lippert surround (same as original).

No need to seal the rivets. I would call LCI and ask, the ones we get have the tape on them but I’m thinking they aren’t Lippert.

Called Lippert and their Better Bath support guy recommended 3M foam tape over Gorilla Glue tape or others. He also said NOT using plastic rivets should work fine; just silicon around the edge and water tap, etc. Lippert doesn't supply tape and their install instructions are on their website BUT these instructions offer several alternatives for install and don't mention the type tape either.

What I would suggest is the 3M VHB, I used it for many years for installing when I had a sign business. Not cheap, but worth the price.

I called 3M and talked with a product expert who recommended:
MMM 06388 3M Automotive Acrylic Plus Premium Attachment Tape
1/2"x20' used with 3M Automotive Adhesion Promotor Sponge Applicator Package 06396
which is supposed to greated help adhesion to the ABS.

Used this stuff for many projects as I came across it in an Industry.
It’s expensive, but never had to buy any.
