AK trip so far

Been on the road since Sunday May 22nd on our way north. Working on our run-rest cycle and daily distance comfort zone. We pushed it a little yesterday with a run from Idaho Falls, Id to just over the Canadian line and are tied down for two nights in a nice little park near Milk River, Ab.

Got the full monty shakedown at the border but no real problems. They had us get out with our dog on a leash while they did their inspection.
A: No questions about the dogs shots or health card.
B: No food items taken even though we had ground beef, potatoes, onions and sausage.
C: My 43 years ago DUI didn't show up to haunt me.

Park is beautiful and well kept, All sites have electric, some have water but no sewer drop and no dump station on the property. I guess the closest dump station is in the town of Milk River.

Thanks for the update. You'll enjoy the trip one you get by the eight days it takes to get out of the wheat fields of Alberta. Kansans might think they have a corner on wheat, but I'm going to tell you Alberta will give them a serious run for their money. (Eight days might be a stretch) The four of us got the royal shakedown at the border two years ago also. No telling how many 68 year olds are drug running to supplement their meager incomes these days.

I am an old farm boy and have many hours in the wheat fields of eastern Montana where I grew up. Probably a little early in the season to see the Canola fields in bloom.
Planning on two more days to Dawson Creek from where we are now. We want to get on up to AK and maybe save Banff and Jasper for the return trip.

Any of you ALCAN travelers can plan on skipping this place. Basically a construction/oilfield camp. Utilities are hung helter skelter and no gravel just mud or dust. Lots of heavy truck traffic from a lot out back.
It has a nice add in the Milepost that got my attention but doesn't live up to it.

Rolled into Tok, AK today no worse for the wear. Had a good uneventful run up the ALCAN.
Beautiful lakes and mountains all around but there are some boring spots.
And yes Destruction Bay to past the border is rough and takes some paying attention to.

This talk of Alaska is making me want to take another trip soon. Maybe next year for a month or two.

Same here. In fact we were just talking about it today on our way home from a few days in the mountains.
