Water Pump Upgrade
My water pump sprung a bit of a leak this last time out. I snugged up the housing but instead of testing it out, shut it down and drained the system. I am looking at replacement pumps for Shurflo 2088-422-145 and there is no mention of that model number. Shurflo 2088-422-144 and 444 are available and may be replaced by a bigger and better model (Shurflo 4008-101-E65). Any thoughts on the 4008 model upgrade for my Raptor 361LEV??

I'd go for it. Heck, I'm even tempted to get the 4008 before my FloJet gives out.

It is on it's way from Amazon ($70.42) and should get it Thursday. I called Shurflo and it is the recommended replacement.

Do you have any plans for isolating it from the floor of the unit while you're at it? (for NVH isolation)

It's also the time to add an accumulator if you have space. The one at Amazon is about a foot tall and 5 to 7 inches width.

Pressure was good before pump sprung the leak so I'm guessing I'll pass on the accumulator but am curious on the NVH Isolation idea. I know Noise, Vibration, Harshness Isolation but how is that done?

Or
Create your own with some foam padding and large washers. I've seen some posts that say they use the foam that is used to insulate pipes. I've see some glue plywood to the top of a foam.

We upgraded to the 4008 a couple years back and loved it for the flow and pressure. As for isolating the vibration and noise, I was able to do it for less then $5.00. I went to NAPA and got some large rubber groumets and put them under the pump and then put expanding foam around the pipes where they went through the floor (just make sure the pipes are not touching the sides of the hole or bottom of the floor while the foam dries). The vibration is very minimal and the pump noise has been cut in more then half since I did this. To deaden the noise even more you could get the sound mat that is used in cars (found at car stereo stores and some auto parts stores) and use it to line a box (if it all ready isn't in a box of some sort) that could be put around the pump. I hope this helps.

I guess I'm nuts but I don't mind the noise and vibration of the stock water pump. That noise always reminds us to conserve water

The accumulator really isn't about pressure issues. It mostly stores up water for quick flushes and hand-washing so the pump doesn't cycle, like in the middle of the night. A side benefit is that it smoothes out the pulsating water flow.

I'll be alone and primitive most of the time and like some have mentioned, it is a gentle reminder you have limited water on-hand. The 4008 has a rubber base and the lines directly attached are soft not rigid. Perhaps I'll quiet it down once my better half retires.

How do you find access to the water pump in your lev 361? I was thinking to change mine.

that little thing was a filter...already have that installed
access to pump is simple...unscrew cloth covered OSB plywood panel sections, the pump sits behind the outdoor shower. You could reach it standing from the outside but I've emptied the basement and climbing in!

There is a really simple way to isolate your pump and quieten it down (after you make sure the hoses aren't hitting the walls). Cut 2 pieces of 1/4 or 3/8" plywood 6" x 12". Drill a 1/2" hole in the 4 corners of one piece and mount the water pump to that board using nuts and bolts with the nuts on top of the pump mounting holes. Then cut a piece of anti-fatigue foam rubber matting 6x12" and using contact cement, attach it to the underside of the waterpump assembly. Then, using contact cement, attach the other board to the bottom of that assembly.
Position the waterpump with the boards attached in the trailer, screw the bottom board to the trailer floor through the 1/2" holes in the top board and attach the water plumbing to the pump. You will end up with the pump supported by the foam and able to move slightly without transferring the sound to the floor of the trailer. So, now when the pump vibrates, the sound and motion will be absorbed by the anti-fatigue mat and not be transferred to the trailer.
Don't use "horse stall" rubber matting, but rather the foam type that usually interlocks to make a bigger mat. They are sold in packages of 4 or 6 in most big box stores.

I wish keystone would stop changing location of there equipment. I have a 2010 361 lev. My water pump is behind the subwoofer. It appears I have to remove The bottom drawer. I like your location a lot better. When you have time check out my 13 mod pictures in the social group.

Instead of making a new thread ill just bump this older one since it already has great info in it.
Our unit just started leaking 2 weeks ago and we havent had time to address it. Finally got to check it out. We currently have the Shurflo 2088-422-144. Based on the searching I did on this forum and your first post, is the Shurflo 4008-101-E65 still a good buy? I found it for $67.46 shipped on Amazon and we have prime so it would be here tuesday for us before we leave for the next track. If this would be a good move let us know. If not what is recommended as a replacement for that pump?
