Dual Trojan Conversion - Cougar 5th Wheel
I have been thinking about a dual golf cart conversion since I upgraded my Grp 24 to a Grp 27 battery spring a year ago. I finally found the batteries at a golf cart shop in neighboring NH for less than I had seen elsewhere. Yesterday my NOCO Dual 6V battery box arrived along with a couple of cables for the job and I did the installation. There is really nothing tricky here, but I wanted it to be clean like OEM. The OEM box has a ventilating hole in the bottom that matches the hole in the floor and a hose attached to a chimney coming out of the lid.
I placed the NOCO, marked the box from underneath, then used a hole saw to cut the bottom. I also cut a hole in the lid at about the same location as the OEM. I used the next sized hole saw to cut the chimney out of the OEM lid, added glue and inserted in from the inside of the NOCO lid, then used some glue on the outside for a good seal. I had ordered an 18" battery cable with rings on both ends to connect the pair in series, plus a 4' dual (pos/neg) cable with an Anderson SB50 connector to eliminate the alligator clips from my Renogy 100w portable solar kit. Here is the result.
