Keystone Couger Water Fill blockage

Trying to add water for the first time, now that we're above freezing. Can't seem to get water into the tank OR get water to the coach using the city side of the fill. The little white plastic thing in the fill connection seems to be some type of check valve. It seems to move easily under finger pressure. What else might I be overlooking?

Do you have a single hose connection with a pointer that movers the valve from "city" to Tank fill"?

You said "now that we're above freezing". Did you check that the hose is not frozen and blocked?

Here are two photos, the outside and the inside of the panel. The water supply hose I'm using is flowing freely. The ambient temperature is above freezing. Every indication is that the c heck valve is acting up. I removed the screws that hold the panel in place and carefully sliced through the silicone caulking. But the box is stubborn and won't move!

You have the same set up I do. You should be able to access the valve from the basement. Just take off the rear wall. Your compartment will have putty behind the frame and it acts like glue when you try to pull it out. Try a plastic putty knife if you don’t want to go through the basement.

Chuck, it's not quite the same. My panel terminates inside the coach at floor level under a corner cabinet. No other access other than through the front of the cabinet, about a 6 x 6 opening. While I can see the back of the panel and the various hoses, can't reach in far enough to see what secures the inlet.

It appears that the inlet with the check valve has a 90 degree elbow that goes up to the selector switch (tank vs city).

I filled the tank and added bleach by using the vent tube. Flushing lines now. We're set for the short term but it definitely needs to be resolved long term.

Then just take all the screws out and gently pry on the edge. It will come loose, just peel off the old putty/butyl tape and apply new when you screw it back in place.

I did that. But I don't quite have the courage to pry too hard! The housing is plastic and with my luck it would break. It feels like it's really a tight fit OR the butyl tape has a really firm grip. We'll be passing a Camping World on Monday and I'll have them fix it. Now that I have water on board and lines are being sanitized, the immediate pressure is off.

I'm fairly positive it's just that cheap plastic check valve and I suspect the 2 or 3 inch housing would unscrew if I was willing to put vise grips to it!

I totally get your reluctance, I do it for a living so it’s second nature for me. Let me know how the repair goes.

Chuck, if you're familiar with the specific valve, here's a question. The diverter valve (city vs tank fill) is a 3 way - water in, water out to tank or water out to coach. The hose connection is about a 3 inch piece of plastic which is attached somehow to the intake side of that diverter. Does the plastic piece (which includes the check valve) unthread from the diverter or is all one piece construction?

Here is a link to the diverter.

To be honest, I don’t remember at the moment. Sorry.

Most of the valve fitting connect to the trailer PEX lines with 1/2" compression fittings. They are the same type as you'll find on the back of the water heater, at each faucet and on Shure Flo pump fittings. If you can reach inside the cabinet or if there's a "false top" to gain access, you can disconnect the fittings with the convenience panel in place. If there's no access from inside, then use a thin blade putty knife, push it into the butyl putty around the panel to separate the panel from the trailer sidewall and gently pull it away from the sidewall. There "should be" (hopefully) enough free movement to get the panel away from the trailer enough to slip your hand behind it.

You can see "something like you should have" in this photo. Of course, there's more to your panel than just this "city water/fresh tank fill" valve, but this is what's incorporated into your panel.

ADDED: Looking at your floorplan and a couple of photos I found online, it looks like your convenience center is on the rear roadside wall and the valve is "hidden" behind the sofa side table... If so, you may have to pull the sofa out of the space and access the pump by removing the side of that cabinet or by removing the entire cabinet. It's not as "impossible as it seems", really it's easy to do, just have two people to move the sofa. It's secured to the back wall at each top corner and may also have some attachment at the front legs.

John, thanks for the input. You're right about the location. I have been counting the screws that hold the end table in place. Lifting it out of the way would be my fallback. I'm going to see what opinion CW offers but if 's too expensive, I'll put it off till after our trip and do it myself. My only concern is getting the correct replacement. Since the photo of the inventory item is oriented differently than the one in the coach, I'm hoping that the stem of the valve lifts out and can be rotated correctly. Time will tell.

I see you're retired AF. I was in from 66-70. C-130's, then KC-135's and B-52 radio repair.

Safe travels.

Well, I'm terribly embarrassed to admit the check valve was fine! Glad I didn't destroy anything trying to "fix it". While the air temperature in Maryland may have been above freezing, the check valve had just enuf moisture that it was frozen and wouldn't open. By the time we got to the Carolinas, it has thawed and is now working fine. Thanks to every who offered ideas and suggestions.

Now to figure out why the water er won't work on electricity!

Thanks again.

I find when I get to South Carolina things are usually much better. Palmetto trees make me feel warm. Are you staying at the James Island Co. Park in Charleston? We love that CG but hard to get in.

"Now to figure out why the water er won't work on electricity!"

Can you expand on this? What's going on?

We were at James Island Park for several days. Now in Savannah. There were lots of openings in the CG. But it's late January and not their busiest season.

See the thread titled "Initial Shakedown Trip" for details. Basically we have a water heater that should function on either AC or propane. Only works on propane. Currently trouble shooting.

We're headed to FL now for a couple of weeks. Where have you been staying? We ended up in Jacksonville.
