The two low point drains, one for cold the other for hot water, will NOT drain the water from your HW tank. The anode/drain plug has to be removed to drain the tank. While you are removing the anode, you might check to see if there is a small, black toggle switch (with cotter pin) in the bottom left-hand corner of that area. If there is, you should make sure it is in the "OFF" position. This will prevent 110v from frying your drained tank if you should plug your unit in during the winter. All units do not have this switch.
