Flojet pump acting up

I have a 2011 Cougar 27KLSWE with a FLOJET model 03526-144. The FLOJET is held down with only 2 screws on one side only. The pump will shut off after running water if the generator is running but, on battery, after about 3 or 4 uses it will not shut off. After the faucet is shut off the pump will have a low continuous murmur . The battery is charged up. Any suggestions?

Appreciate your time.

first to the group.

Now are you sure it is the pump your hearing?
and not the fan in the power converter.

buffalocreek, Howdy;

The pump is probably not putting out the same pressure with the battery as with the gen. so it's just takin' a few seconds longer to pressurize the entire system after the faucet is secured.
Yep it could use a few moremounting screws as well...

Welcome aboard. nose around tons of good info. stashed in here...

The pump quits as soon as I turn off the switch. Could it be that the length of the trailer is a factor resulting in longer water lines. It has two sinks, a toilet and a shower. Still, one would think that the pump would shut off completely. I checked and there are no water leaks.

If your pump will not shut off when the faucet is closed, it is probably due to one of these causes:

1) low voltage condition, 2) leaking faucet or plumbing leak somewhere, 3) defective pressure switch in pump, 4) air or debris trapped in pump, 5) defective check valve assembly.

If you are considering disassembling the pump to inspect the inside and parts, go online to the Flojet website and take a look there to see if they have any instructions for doing that and any parts you may need to replace.

The length of your RV should not make any difference as to what your pump is doing. Almost all RV's have 2 sinks, a toilet and a shower - yours is no different.

Let us know how you make out. Good luck.

I emptied the tank and followed the instructions as per the Flojet instructions. Charged battery, fill tank, open all faucets, turn on pump, when water runs smooth turn off faucets, pump should stop. When turning on the water for about 3 or 4 seconds then shuting it off, the pump would shut off after 4 to 5 seconds. I did this off on on for most of the morning and the pump runs for 6 to 7 seconds then 7 to 8 seconds and when I flush the toilet it takes about 15 seconds to shut off. Battery is still charged up as nothing else in the RV is on.

The question is, is this normal or is the pump not working quite right?

Cheers!

It sounds like you may have an air leak in the input line. Try disconnecting the input water line at the tank (if you can reach it) and at the water pump. Check any o rings and reconnect/retighten all clamps.
