If I am thinking right, that set of jacks is "self centering" meaning the pivot floats and one pad may hit the ground before the other one. lt's normal and doesnt hurt anything. next time try this:
Have the other half push the button to extend and hold one of the jacks in the retracted position. The other jack can touch the ground before there is any pressure to lower the one your trying to hold up.
