A/C stopped working

My AC stopped working Sunday, so I checked and it did throw the Circuit Breaker. I reset it but still nothing and did not trio the breaker when I try to run it. I looked at the Thermostat to see if it was working, (I read as many forum posts as possible but none were like mine) the thermostat clicks when I lower the temp but nothing happens, no noises, no fans, no compressor trying to run, nothing...it does work on the furnace though. Microwave, fridge, television etc ask still work in the trailer. I'm new to the owning part of camping, I grew up camping with my family, but I don't even know where to look as far as the DIY. I've looked up everything i could think of, got some ideas but not enough info to help me from here. Went up and cleaned the AC unit on top of the trailer, which was pretty filthy but the coils weren't that dirty and I clean the inside filter agonist daily. Is it the compressor, or what else can I look at? I don't have a voltage multimeter.. yet and not really sure what I would check or how to do it but am DEFINITELY rolling to learn lol. I do also have a surge protector outside hooked up to the power pole at the campground in at, everything looks good there too.
I think I've included all the details that is needed for anyone who can help. I will attach pictures too. Thank you for any and all help.

Ac units are kinda hard to diagnose without a good multimeter and the knowledge to use one.
You may look for the capacitor and see if it shows obvious signs of oil leaking the top of the capacitor bulging or popped up (think jiffy pop popcorn). Capacitors need to be discharged before handling because they store energy even with no power going to the air conditioner.
Could be a bad compressor or fan motor
Is the breaker still tripping? Make sure to completely turn the breaker off and then back on to reset it.
If nothing is working and nothing is tripping anymore it could be the ac contractor or relay that is bad.
Is the clicking sound coming from the thermostat?
You need to be VERY careful diagnosing ac units because you can get shocked or electrocuted….it really is best left to a professional who will be able to quickly and safely figure it out

If you have the t'stat on cool and turn the fan to high or low then the fan should run. Are other 120 vac appliances running like the microwave or television? If they are which means you have power to the trailer, then without a meter about all uou can do is cycle the a/c breaker. That means flip the breaker off then back on. They can be stiff so don’t be shy about using dome force.

As a side note, a "surge protector" is all but useless. What will save your electrical system and appliances is an EMS (Energy Management System). They cost more but are worth it.

I have the same thermostat in my 2002 Cougar. Always run your A/C with the fan set on high otherwise the coils will freeze. It is OK to run the fan on auto and the fan will only run when the A/C kicks in. You may have a bad control board or bad capacitor. Perhaps have a real RV tech take a look at it would be the easiest way to resolve the problem? I removed my original 13.5K BTU Dometic A/C when I first got my Cougar several years ago and replaced it with a Dometic Brisk II 15K BTU and it was plug n play. My old A/C was working but I wanted more capacity.

Based on your post in your case the smartest thing you can do for your A/C problem is get someone that is experienced...

No, it doesn't trip the breaker when I try to start it again.

I'm with Chuck, find a mobile RV tech (or two). I like to get a few easy, relatively cheap things done to see how they work. I do that with contractors at my day job, works well, for me anyway.
Good Luck
P.S. I would start with having one install a hardwired Progressive Industries EMS. As Marshall commented the surge protector does very little for your rig.

We pretty much all agree it’s not for the novice to go poking around in an ac system..there are few other things in your home or rv that draw significant amps when trying to start.
This can kill you if your not careful…I posted the video to give someone an idea of what to look for or a general understanding of how to troubleshoot but it is best left to professionals.
I’d also look at the age of the unit and see if it’s worth dumping a few hundred or more into a ac that may be better off replaced. Especially if it’s the original 2002 ac unit…good luck

Thanks for the input. Yes, I wouldn't do anything I felt was out of my comfort zone. Just thought maybe I was overlooking something basic, well hoped at least lol. Yes, it's most likely the original AC so it's time for a new one or new trailer lol. Any thoughts as to what kind to replace it with and how am I able to go for BTU, etc?, Again, thank you.

15K BTU and as far as brand, well these days it might be whatever you can find.

Replace it with a Brisk II and the thermostat wiring plugs right in... plug & play. Remember I have a 2002 with the same set up and the swap was easy with a Brisk II. Talks to the thermostat right away.

$9.99 shipping. The price is much better than campingworld.com even though they are running a "sale".
