Destination For Memorial Day

Wheres everybody going for Memorial day weekend so I can plan to go the other way, J/K! We are headed for the beach at San Clemente State beach this Monday for a week, but Memorial Day week is still up in the air. Any CG suggestions in the southwest to avoid the busy holiday ?

We are heading to Palmetto State Park in Texas. Small park but beautiful. Great trails. It's where they did some "tropical" scenes from the movie Predator.

Remember back in the 70's when getting from Tracy, Ca back to Livermore through the Altamont pass (30 miles) took well over 3 hours. Even worse now.

Great little park...

We'll be visiting a small COE campground off the the beaten path at Lake Procter, just outside of Comanche, Texas...

Besides the holiday, the 1st is our 44th anniversary.

I'm in Princeton parked in my cousin's driveway while doing some drinking in his backyard.
This is our long weekend and I never go anywhere on holidays as the hwy deaths are always at a high rate. On the news the rds are a zoo and the ferries are packed. Also I've never seen the reason to get away from it all just to be with everyone who's doing the samething.
I like to stay at home (cousin's place) where I'm safe and I won't end up as a stat.

I know where you'll be! I've played at the golf course near there a quit a few times. My parents live in Brownwood. You know why Brownwood and Comanche don't get cold? Because there is a Blanket between the two.😂 Back to being serious...there used to be a great little restaurant in a Blanket called Katie's. Otherwise if you want some of the best fried catfish, try Cook's Fish Barn near Rising Star. It's in the middle of nowhere but it is awesome. Don't go if you want anything else or demand a 5-Star facility...

Merry Meadows just south of Shrewsbury, PA in Maryland. Nice private campground.

However, this weekend they are apparently having an issue with their well and are advising campers to bring their own water "just in case".

I was at Livermore yesterday. Brought back mixed memories. Lots of propellers along the pass these days.

Take your bikes with you. It's not far from a great bike trail.

We are headed to Cheatham Annex in Yorktown VA. It's next door to Williamsburg so we will spend some time there and at Water County. Have a great time everyone.
