Protection for the screen door

Our dogs like to look out the screen door but they also like to stand up against it and bark. I know they make these for RV doors, but I was worried that they were going to push the screen out and go on a walkabout. So, I installed a hinged mesh protector for them.

I started out by buying a screen door protector and then cut the posts of all four corners. I then installed two hinges onto the door casing, and then used pop rivets to secure the mesh to the hinges. I'm using super earth magnets on the frame to hold it closed, and then used 2 more on the adjacent dinette wall to hold it open when not needed.

Here are a few pics:

Screen doors are great but not made for dogs. The panel you show looks great but hopefully they won't get their nails caught in it. I went to Lowe's and got a sheet of plexi-glas cut to size and velcro'd that to the inside of the screen. Good luck.........

Thanks. We've had a screen like this in our house for years without issue. Hopefully they will only scratch it a few times before they learn not too.

I bought two exercise pens that I use to make a 8x8 area just outside the door. That has worked well too

With Mini-schnauzers being way too curious, I opted to get some quality foam core poster board at Staples. I cut it to fit inside of the screen inlay opening, and used clear scotch tape to mount it in the corners. This way I can remove it at will, with no left overs.

An added advantage is that it acts as a "cold air dam" when the a/c is on, and the camper door is open while transferring stuff thru the screen door access slider, for breakfast, lunch, or dinner under the clear blue sky.

I did similar. Ours isn't see-through, but the top half still is. I don't have to open 2 doors to get out.

I went to Lowes and had a piece of plexiglass to cut to fit the lower half. Also found white velcro that matches the door. So far it does keep the door cleaner with both dogs and is holding up well. Just not as much air flow.
