John,

I just realized I used the same door you gave me the link to. So a big "Thanks", goes out to you for your help in this mod.

Bill,

Once we get back home to all my tools, I'm going to do much the same kind of mod. This trip had got me tired of kneeling and bending to dump the black tank. I'm not sure how big of a door I need there so I'll be doing some more checking on size. I see in your picture that you have a hot and cold PEX line running in the same area. Isn't that all "outside" the heated area? It sure looks like those two lines would be a big issue in cold weather

John,

You are correct on the lines being outside of the heated area. Plus I didn't know they were there so I didn't drain them last winter. They come from the hot water heater plumbing area I think, and I did drain the hot water tank by taking out a plug inside the door area. I will have to investigate it further, now that your brought it to my attention. Thanks

If you do the mod, I think you will find it to be one of the best ones out there as the dump stations I have had to use so far were not areas you wanted to be kneeling at. The door makes getting to the handles easy. Also, the extension on the pipe makes connecting the hose so much easier, no more bending underneath the shirt searching for the outlet.
