Power for fan

2009 Couger 292RKS trailer, want to install fantastic fan w/ remote control on vent over couch area. Should I expect to find existing power wires? I removed the plastic trim in the vent opening but which exposed area above the ceiling but did not find any power wires. Anyone had any experience installing fans?

Typically, they only wire the bathroom vent. You can usually fish a power feed from a something else. Light fixtures are a typical source, you just have to make sure it is not a switched light. There are a few threads on that subject. Search for 'vent'.

Your best bet is probably going to be to try to run a fish tape from the opening, through the roof, and over to the area behind the microwave. If you have cabinets with lights next to or close to the microwave, that's where the 12V wires are going to be.

My Cougar is a similar floor-plan (290RKS) and I was able to (after removing interior vent trim) reach in with my arm and find several 12v wires running through the ceiling front to back. I tapped into one of the heavy gauge orange/white two conductor wires and added an in-line fuse sized for the draw of my fan. There are wires up there, you just have to find them. Lights in the livingroom ceiling are switched so you cannot use them for power. Good luck, Hank
