factory settings on friction bar

i have a reese friction sway control bar was wondering anyone knows how far the bottom bolt should be set.or what the factory setting is .im towing a 25'flagstaff micro lite travel trailer .I don't want to over tighten it .any response would help thanks .

The bolt with the handle is tightened all the way, every time. The bottom bolt is an adjustment if you need more or less friction to reduce sway.

If you have not moved the factory setting of lower bolt (leave as is).

If you loosen off tension handle until you can just move the bar by hand (0 clearance so to speak)Tighten to point you cannot slide by hand (at this point the movement of handle will have been very little )

Make a mark on for future reference showing you where the point of friction begins. From this point tighten the handle 1,1/2 to 2 turns. This is most times sufficient.

Remember to back off tension to 0 or better yet remove friction bar before you start backing in sharp turns at your campground. HTH
