Black water dump cable replacement

I have a 2006 Laredo 29RK. The plastic piece that connects through the frame for the black water drain cable broke. Does the whole cable need to be replaced? I cant seem to get the threaded piece off the cable. What is the best way to replace the cable if necessary? For those that have cut a hole in the barrier, what did you use to seal back up. Thank you.

I can't help with cable handle part, but can with belly material. Two ways you can go about this:
1) what many different is cut a 3 sided square opening where needed to access valve and fold out flap of belly material, then reseal with gorilla tape when done.
2) what is did was cut a 4 sided 18" x 18" square opening to access both grey and black valves (mine are near each other) and remove/discard the piece. Once valve repairs were completed, I then installed a new 24" x 24" square of black coroplast belly material over hole and secured with 3/4" self tapping bolts and then sealed edges with gorilla tape.I now have an access panel for future valve maintenance or repair. I got the 24" x 24" piece of material from a local sign shop I do business with. Any sign shop will either give you or sell for very cheap.
