I'm a bonehead
Well I put the battery back on the TT last night and installed the wires backward. Plugged in TT. Whent out to check on it about three hours later and the battery was venting realy hard.It did not boil completly dry but sure did get hot. Do you think I can refill with distelled water and maybe save it or is it junk and time to replace.

You have nothing to lose i would give it a try a gallon of water on 99c and battery about $100. Good luck

I did that once, by accident. Put the pos cable on ground and it went to shooting fireworks. Didn't take long to reverse it. If this is what you did, you surely would have noticed all the sparks, I think.

I just had to read this thread. Too bad it wasn’t a fun experience. The backwards wire colors are always tripping me up. I should color-code my battery posts so I don’t make that mistake.

No fireworks because the battery was completly dead.
And color codeing is a good idea.
I will refill with water in a little bit and keep you all posted.

I would be more concerned with damage to the charger/converter than the battery. The battery should survive as long as the acid did not bubble out and only water boiled off. JM2¢, Hank

Don't think you would have fried the converter, I did the same exact thing about a month ago and figured out at 3am while camping that there are two 40 amp blade fuses in the converter box to protect against just such a thing. Be sure to check those, there are no red lights on them like the others so you need to pull them to check.

Food for thought..... the water and Sulpheric Acid are extreamly
corrosive. If any spilled out of your battery boxes, you do have battery
boxes (???), you will need to clean them up. First to neturalize the acid you need a backing soda and fresh water solution. Be liberial, it's your friend....scrub where ever it had contact and add a few inches extra area for a margine of safety.

Well the two 40 amp fuses where blown. So I tried to replace them but they popped as soon as they made contact.
The funny thing was everything would work on 12 volt just not on shore power.
So I called the manufacture "wfco" and told them what I did.
The woman I spoke to told me to unhook the battery and put in two more new fuses then hook the battery back up and see if they popped and to call back after I tried this.
Well they popped and I called back she took my information and said she would call me back within 24 hours.
She said even though I hooked it up wrong the fuses should have protected the unit from any damage and they may be able to cover under there 2 year warranty.
I sure hope so but I guess for now I will just wait on A call.
I'll keep ya'll posted.

OK the good news is that my mistake did not damage the charger/converter system. Bad news it did short out a 100+ dollar battery.
But hey better a battery than the converter.
lesson learned

Battery posts
So in a Keystone Bullet, the wires from the trailer that hook up to the house battery are, Black is positive and white is negative?

Pretty much all RV's 12 volt house systems are Black +, white -. You may be fortunate to have a ground post visible in the battery compartment. Follow the white wire to see where it goes. It may be a good idea to mark the + wire(s) with red tape. There may be more than one for power jack, generator, etc. Also, if you use 2 12v batteries wired in parallel, use colored cables. (red+, black -) Its a little more difficult with 6 volt batteries wired in series as a cable goes from pos. on one battery to neg. on the other. Triple checking connections BEFORE making the final ground connection to rv is a good idea. Also, knowing the RV black + white- wiring will help with adding or repairing 12 volt house systems in the rv.
