Drive with the front cap light on?

I saw a fifth wheel with the front cap lights on while driving. It made me wonder if I should have mine on. It made sense to me as it helps drivers at night see the height. Is this a proper practice?

You have marker lights on the RV already. It certainly isn’t required. Mine the blue lights would come in the rear window and blind me. Chances are it was something the other driver couldn’t get to turn off.

Interesting question...............never seen that or even thought about that. We tow our fifth wheel trailer with the normal trailer lights on as that provides adequate day and night visibility. My 2 cents.

How many times have you seen a vehicle with a turn signal or the 4-way flashers on while going down the highway for miles and miles???

Chances are they "had them on in the campground" and just forgot to turn them off before leaving.... There's no requirement to have the "ambiance cap lights" on and in some places, it may even be illegal to tow with them on (think red or blue lights visible from the front that mimic an emergency vehicle)...

As for the "top clearance lights", they come on automatically (or should come on automatically) when you turn on the headlights.

I have been told it’s considered “distracted driving”. I don’t have them so I don’t have to be worried.

I was considering what it would be like with that light on when it occurred to me I've never towed at night! We've always been fortunate and timed our tows for daylight.

In several states it's illegal to have anything other than yellow/orange on the front or red on the rear.

I will not speak for other states laws, Oregon clearance light must be yellow in front. Display of blue lights on anywhere is only allowed on police vehicles and firetrucks. If anything but a clearance light is turned on, on the front that would an unapproved light when driving on a public road.
Yes people do strange things with lights placed of different coolio colors and locations on vehicles, but when you turn them on, while on a public road. I bet your state also has rules against it.
