Grill storage

I have one of these grills and I am curious if anyone else has one and how you store it. I currently have a storage rack mounted onto my rear bumper and then I use bungee cords to keep it on there. I’m just looking for ideas and to see what others have done.

If you like the Weber products, the Q series of propane units are much easier to handle and carry in a storage compartment. We have had our Weber Q220 since 2012 and it has been an excellent unit and we also have the folding stand for it so we don't have to use it on a table. Be aware that there are some areas that don't allow charcoal or briquets for grills, but do allow propane. This may only be out west in fire danger areas, but it can be anywhere there is dangerous fire prone areas.

.

Colorado is One of those places when certain “burn bans” are in effect. You cant even smoke tobacco outside in a stage 3 ban.

I used to carry my full size Weber kettle but it was tedious to move and strap down. I switched to the Weber jumbo joe. It is big enough for me to cook for my family of six and it fits easily it the back of my truck secured by one bungee cord. I’ve been using it for a couple of years and I’m happy with it.

^^^^I have to agree with this if you travel around much. After going to the trouble of carrying a charcoal grill, cleaning it etc. and getting to forests with burn bans (which happens all over NM/CO) I went to propane. Not as flavorful but more versatile. Much easier to carry and come with folding stands that make transport and setup much easier.

As I understand it you can get flavoring "planks" for the propane grills and even small smoke boxes to add chips for flavor.

I've not used the planks but I do have a couple of smoke boxes but eventually went to soaking chips then wrapping them in foil with holes poked in it with a fork. Works pretty good but not as good as a straight charcoal fire. Guess I'm too lazy and sort of quit that after a while.

+1 on the Q series, I have a 2200 and modified it to plug into a second gas port I added to the camper. I carry it in the bed of the truck, since it won't fit in our pass-through and we use it a lot. I picked up a cast iron griddle for it and it is great for breakfast.

I also modified the original regulator so I could hook it back up to the grill and use a 25 pound bottle

We had to move into a temporary house, after a flood last year and I took it to the house we were put up in and used it with a 25 pound tank and the cart.

Cedar plank salmon is awesome. I bought about 6 bags of different wood chips, much cheaper and better selection in the US. I have been carrying charcoal since I started RVing, and use it when opportunity presents itself. I do like cooking over wood coals with added hickory wood chunks. I don't mind using my nexgrill, it is much better than the aussie. I have been thinking about the lil weber jumbo joe.

So far it appears no one besides the OP carries a full size grill with them, including me. Since I have a full size Weber charcoal at home, I carry what Logan X does. I store it and a bucket I put the charcoal in, in the basement.
