Fuzion 322, Short box truck towable?

Does anyone have experience towing the Fusion Toy haulers with a short box truck, but with a standard non-sliding hitch? I currently have a long bed Chevy that seems to have lots of clearance with the radius front cap , but would like my next truck to be short bed if feasible.

Go with the short bed if you want but you will definitely need a slider. That one time you need it you'll be happy you have it

Do some research - I have a Fuzion and a short bed truck. I don't have any issues. I don't have a slider, but I do have a sidewinder hitch. You can now get the sidewinder in air-ride and gooseneck configurations. Before I installed the sidewinder, I took two trips with the traditional pin box-didn't have any trouble. My trailer's nose cone is also radiused-as are most new fifth wheels.

I tow a Fuzion 325 with my short bed Ram and non-slider Curt hitch. No issues yet but I'm very careful, as it would hit if I weren't careful. I am currently exploring slider options.

I have a ford short bed with a 325srx ( similar)- I have a slider- and have used it once in 6 years.
I needed it backing up a hill into a site.

Not a lot of extra money for peace of mind-

One uphill turn with our Fuzion 371 and it tapped the rear cab corner on my son in laws F-250 6-3/4 bed. After putting on a Reese Sidewinder it gave more clearance and never hit the cab again. It depends on the trailer model and the front nose.

I towed a 2011 Fuzion 322 with an F250 short bed. I did use a Pullrite slider hitch and needed it numerous times. One issue I had was I also was using a fold up bed cover which took up about 6-7" of available turning space so the sliding hitch was a must. I know the newer trailers typically have a different front cap allowing for tighter turning. I have a long bed now and personally I would never switch back.

I have a 2015 F350 Short Bed with a Fusion 371. Dealer tried to save us some money with a standard hitch. I put it to the test at the dealership and did end up tapping the cab (very low speed turn).

Not enough turn ability for my comfort in tighter spots, so had them install the PullRite.

The dealers will only tell you enough to get you out the gate...your problem after. Bet they didn't tell you that the heavy hitch weight is over taxing the 3/4 ton and some one ton SRW trucks. These heavy toy haulers are better off pulled with a dually.

Thanks for all the feedback, I think I will go with the short box (so a crew cab will fit in my garage) along with the sidewinder option on the trailer pin box.

I guess I'm a little late to the discussion here, but I got my first experience with a 5th wheel when I purchased my 371 last fall. (Have had a tow behinds for years) I have an f250 short bed, and I took my rear window out about 2 months later. I have since learned to watch things closer and really haven't had any more issues, but I'm planning on a new 2017 Super Duty and I'll probably go with the long bed to avoid future problems.

Little late to the discussion, but I can confirm that you'll need either a slider-hitch or turret style pin box to clear the Fuzion front cap with a short bed (6.5'). Some toy haulers have a high clearance cap which work well with short-beds (like Cyclone), but the Fuzion doesn't seem to be one of them. I errored on the safe side and got a PullRite slider then immediately after Fuzion delivery hit my nearest parking lot and tested the turning radius. Sure enough, my short-bed needed the 11" of additional slide room in order to clear the cab.

I have a Reese Pro 15K slider. Never used it ~~should have once. Tapped the cab and gave it a tint dimple.

Well worth it to do your homework on any high dollar purchase such as a trailer or tow vehicle. You'll find the dealers won't give you any info on what can happen once you make the purchase and get out on the road. It's your problem then. Be careful with these heavy toy haulers and make sure your tow vehicle is enough to handle your purchase.

I get the desire or need for a short bed, but having a long bed eliminates a lot of these outlined issues for me while providing the practicality of the bed space and the use of a simple, lightweight (yet robust), easily removable Andersen Ultimate hitch.

Sliding Hitch

Thanks to xcntrk who posted pics above. I have a short bed super duty as well, and we bought a Fuzion Imapact 351 toyhauler. It has the same front cap as his trailer. I opted for the Pullrite Superglide hitch like his, rated for 18k lbs. I now feel a little better about not hitting the cab and not having to remember if I have to slide it or not. Thanks again.

I used to pull an '08 Fuzion 362 with a Ford F350 Crew Cab Short bed.
I had a Reese slider and there was that one time I should have slid it but didn't.
Now my cab has a reminder.
