Antenna Signal
This may sound like dump question, but how do you know how to point your antenna?.
Have a new Springdale Fifth Wheel with a HDTV. The only thing I can do is scan for channels. On my old Fifth Wheel with old TV I had a converter box that would show the antenna strength so you would know what direction to point the antenna to get the best reception

If you know which direction the nearby city, etc. might be, start by pointing the antenna roughly that way. Then scan for channels. If it's not satisfactory, rotate 90 degrees and scan again. Continue until you get the best selection of channels and quality of reception. You can further fine tune by rotating 45 degrees either way. With a little practice, it comes pretty easy.
Don't forget to turn on the amp before anything else.

How about just checking the next guys antenna position? That have worked real well for me over the years.
Happy camping.

Ya thats what we do, look around and see what everyone else is doing lol.
With the new sat dish though, we have less use for the antenna.

In simple terms:
When you crank up the antenna, the arrow on the rotating plate is aligned with the "arms" of the antenna. Think of it this way. Knowing where the transmission tower is, rotate the antenna so that your looking straight at it with your arms extended to the sides. If you have that extra "wingman" piece, it needs to be forward of the arms.

I also use the mobile apps and look to see where the neighbors have their antenna pointed but nothing beats tuning in the exact tower I want with the Sensor Pro... many of the parks we visit are off in the boonies and the towers spread out... The Sensor Pro takes the guess work out of it and the digital towers are pretty darn narrow...

My tv has an antenna signal strength as an option the the Tvs menu. I just raise the TV, and then turn the antenna to get the best signal strength.

Our Travel Trailer came with the Winegard Sensar IV HD Antenna, which you crank up and then can turn to tune in stations. We added the Wingman to increase signal strength. Next I installed the Winegard Sensarpro TV Signal Meter, which replaced the standard power supply and acts as a signal strength indicator, adjustable amplifier and wall plate power supply, it added specific search modes, eliminating guesswork. Also found a foam rubber clock, like the one you might use to train your kids how to tell time. I cut out the center with the hands and placed it over the ceiling crank so that once stations are found you can mark down their location then when you wish to change the direction of the antenna for a specific station or group of stations you know exactly where to turn the crank to align the antenna. Also the following web sights will allow you to put in the zip code of the location you are going to camp at and it will show the RF number and stations that can be viewed by your antenna and the strength of their signal and location to give you a better chance of locking on. And last I found that once the Sensarpro TV Signal Meter locates the most stations I let the TV search and lock in those stations, the TV seems to pull in more then I get by just selecting the channel. Be aware that not all stations are the common ones you are used to, many have an RF number like 45 and will represent channel 12 or Fox on the signal meter.
