Dometic refrigerator vent fan

Most of us who have Dometic Refrigerators have to put up with the 2 vent fans that sound like model airplane propellers! Because they are mounted metal-to-metal, a Technician tried to quiet the fan by placing felt between the mounting brackets. It did not work. Another RVer told me to buy a small fan and place it just inside the outside vent panel and run it permanently. It helps by reducing the amount of time the high pitched propellers run! Now we turn off the refrigerator whenever the propellers run and we are inside. The trick, now, it to remember to turn the frig on when we leave!

noisy dometic refrigerato

Technicians have tried to reduce the noisy vent fans (sounds like model airplane propellers) by placing felt pads between metal mounts. It did not work.

Some RVers place a small fan ... bought in a store ... just inside the vent cover on the outside of the rig. The small fan is plugged into 110v and it reduces the amount of time the vent fan propellers sound is produced. However, we also turn off the refrigerator when we are in the rig ... when the propellers have the high pitch squeal.

Dometic company knows about the problem but will not replace the cheap ones with a regular, standard quiet fan.

Dometic will not replace the noisy vent fans with a quieter one. RVers have told me to buy a small fan and place it inside the outside vent cover. It runs all the time and is quiet. Although the high-pitched Dometic fan still screams at you, it does so less often.
