Help! Can a Trailer be 2 Big?

We just purchased a 2012 345TG Avalanche, TV is a 2006 Ford F350 SuperDuty Diesel. Maybe its just me, but can we actually pull something that weighty? We've taken it out a few times, and just seems so large.
Our poor truck sounds like its working hard, but hubby says its all good. The trailer is 11,500 lbs dry. I need some reassurance that this a doable combo!

Congratulations on your new 5th wheel purchase. Your TV from what I could see can handle 15,500 lbs towing a 5th wheel. Not an exact science without knowing what gears you have, 4x4, and single or dually. Pic looks like single axle. You can look up tow capacity and cross reference to get exact results on google. Perhaps one of the other members has a link to a ford site with all the various specs for your year.

Your truck will have a workout, Diesel engines are work horses. Towing something that big means taking time, not pushing the truck too hard. Engine Temperature and Transmission Temperatures are the enemy. Monitoring temperatures, regular maintenance you should have many happy trips.

On second thought, maybe your huband needs a new truck, thats a pretty big 5th wheel.

My wife made the mistake of telling me that we needed a new truck and a new TT.

We have a 2008 super duty 6.4 power stroke and a 42ft Raptor14,300lbs empty weight (loaded w/our 2 harleys and golf cart 16,500lbs)and we dont have any problems to speak of, just take your time and enjoy yourself instead of hurring up to get there and you will be just fine

Thanks for the comments. Guess I need to relax and enjoy the ride. We are hoping to semi retire in the next few years and spend more time RVing - our cabin on wheels Maybe then we will look at a bigger truck, until then take our time cruising along. Happy trails everyone! Keep safe!
