Dodge mirrors

I have a 2010 dodge 3500 for my tow rig and would like to see if anybody has seen a mirror that I could add to the stock truck setup so I could see the back of the 5th wheel trailer better.

I keep the stock mirrors out and up like the pic shows its just I have a hard time seeing the back of the trailer when backing up.

Ron.

I have looked everywhere I could think of and online for something that would attach to my 2011 1500 and was not able to find anything even remotely close.

Ron, Are the Fuzion TH wider than the Cougar fivers???? I have the same mirrors and have no problem seeing the end of the trailer. However I can not see the built in slideout bike rack, so I have to leave room for the extra few feet. Since the only time this really matters is while backing, maybe attaching a marker or flag with a magnet to the bumper may help you. I have considered it but found it easier to rely on the DW's screams.
I do know that there are after-market mirrors available but they are very pricey and no guaranty you will see better. Good luck in your quest, Hank

A couple of wide load flags in the end caps of the rear bumper, when backing, could be a simple solution. The spot mirrors on my 2012 Ram are different than the one pictured. I don't know exactly which you may have but I don't have an issue seeing the rear of my trailer either, but I'm not trying to tell you what you may or may not be seeing.

Thanks for the info guys.
Hank I do not know if its wider then yours its just when I set in the drivers seat
and look back I can not see the rear of the trailer and I have moved the mirrors all over the place.

Makes backing up no so fun
Went and put a tape on the trailer 8' 7"

Ron.

Well I found this wonder how it will hold up and work.
Hate to see it fly off and 65mph on the road.

I think that I would like those better than anything coming in contact with my paint.

I have the same problem with my 2008 Chevy 3500 with the west coast towing mirrors. The whole mirror assembly looks like it would go out far enough, but then the actual mirrors will not adjust in far enough to see the trailer. I have them set the best I can, but still cannot see down either side of my trailer while towing. I am just spoiled driving my tractor trailer around and know what I should be able to see vs what these passenger truck "towing" mirrors are actually showing me.

I am on the look for some aftermarket mirrors. Went and sat in a 2012 Dodge the other day to see if those mirrors were better(since the new chevy is still using the same mirror I have) and it looks like they would work better. A different configuration than your 2010 and what was on my 2005 Ram. Its just tough to justify spending $50K to solve a $500 mirror problem.

I have a 2012 2500 Ram and just purchased a 2013 Laredo 321BH; although I've only towed it 50 + miles; have backed it several times (around corners, etc and have no issue seeing the rear of the camper. The convex mirrors are full wide not in the corner though; I had a 10' with that style...these are much better.

I didn't mention "that" set of backup mirror...not sure she's the best money can buy BUT she doesn't a good job as additional mirrors. :-)

Hank wants a set in green I want a set with volume control <wink>

As for width of RV's. Best I can recall the Fuzion and Raptor are both 102" wide, the Laredo and Cougar are 98" wide. That may be at least a part of the issue with some owners being able to see the backend and others having problems...

I was always told by older timers in the past if you have to ask for the price of the item you can't afford that item. (I guess I am one of them now.)

No; they do not come in green unless you can get her to wear a ghillie suit?

Thats what I was thinking also. My Fuzion measures 104" across the front last time I checked.

Add the lip on the slides on one (or both) sides, the door handle on the curb side, the arms for the patio awning and that 104" can easily stretch to 107 or even wider. All those extras hanging off the sides make seeing around a wide load even harder.

I think all states now allow trailers wider than 98" on their roads, but I'm thinking that some states still restrict registration of wide-body trailers.

The only way I know to see around that wide of a load is to stretch the mirrors out further. Trying to angle them to see behind you just doesn't help enough to make a difference. Of course you could add a rear camera system and get a "full living color picture" of what's back there. That's someting no set of truck mirrors can provide LOL

I just bought a set of these at CW for my 2010 Dodge Ram, I have a friend who uses them for his 2008 Dodge Ram, they fit great & he has never had a problem with them moving to my knowledge. They seem to be a better design than the CIPA morrors that slide over the mirror housing, I had a set of those a few years back & they cracked the heated/auto dim glass on my Tahoe, I was not impressed.
