Battery draining while connected to shore power

We are hooked up with 50 amp plug to shore power. But, second AC won’t run and the battery has been drawn done.

Is it the electric box we are plugged into at the RV site or a something wrong with my camper? This is our second time out in brand new trailer.

Welcome to the forum

If your plugged into shore power, and the 120VAC stuff is working then it may be a bad leg, meaning only one side of the 50A cord is energized, it could be the battery cutoff switch in the wrong position.

Answers would be easier if you tell us year make and model of your trailer. Look at the top of the page for user control panel. Scroll down to signature, fill it out and save it.

Others will help you better narrow down the issue, but if you have an EMS, it will tell you if the rv site pedestal has an issue.

Looking at your pics, is it a charger/inverter? If so it looks like it’s in bypass mode.

Sounds to me like you lost one of the two power lines. First check breakers (the 50 amp main) on the pedestal and in your breaker box inside the camper. Don't just look at them. Turn them fully off then back on. If that doesn't work then have the cg check the pedestal. If they determine it's ok then it's on the trailer side.

Thanks, everybody. Mid-morning on Sunday when the park started clearing out, all of a sudden we were getting full power again. So I am assuming we weren’t getting all of the amps we needed from the cg pedestal.

I'd strongly recommend getting an EMS, it can save you from an electrical disaster.

If you would have had an EMS, it would have told you.
