Shore power without battery

Newbie question here. Can you hook up shore power without having the battery in the trailer. I have my battery in the garage on a trickle charger and wanted to do some work on the trailer with shore power. I guess it would be no different with the battery in place but on disconnect.

Thx, Barry

If your going to be operating the slides then the battery should be installed. Counting on the converter only to operate the slides isnt a good idea, and most RV makers have a warning label saying a battery needs to be installed to operate the slides.

Agree 100% with chuckster57. Everything in your camper will function OK on the converter only, except the slides. You really must have the battery installed for the slides to work.

So just a little lost on this you live in California and don’t camp all year? Before we full timed I installed a true battery disconnect switch, it totally disconnected the battery and they would easily go two months and still be strong enough to run the slides out.
I agree with Chuck, best have the battery installed to operate the slides.

Thank you all for the quick replies. For what I am doing now I don't need the slide out but I will remember that for the future.

In regards to being in So Cal, I just got the trailer a few months back and am still doing some minor repairs before we start using it. I have found that even this time of year it is a challenge getting weekend sites, may have to take a few weekdays off.

Weekends are tough. I'm in temecula now. Try the regional parks.
