Heading from SD to the Southwest

Heading from SD to the southwest in early March. Visit relatives in Phoenix and then head to the south rim of the Grand Canyon on the 14th. After that, we want to go to Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capital Reef, Arches, Canyonland, and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.

Any idea if Hwy 9 is OK to get to Zion? Looks suspect on the atlas. Is there a better way to get to Zion?

Thanks✌️

Hwy 9 is a very passable road for rig your size. However, there is a narrow tunnel that has to be negotiated inside the park. I'd suggest you check with the ranger office in the park for the particulars.
If you are planning on visiting Zion next after South Rim you could access Hwy 59 from Hwy 89 via Alt89 at Bitter Springs. This is very pretty drive with camping opportunities at the top and no tunnels to fuss with. Plus you get ot cross the Colorado River at Navajo Bridge. Photo attached

The Alt 89 route will take you through the Kaibab Natl Forest and close by the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately the North Rim doesn't open until May
Check early season road conditions since you'll be at higher elevations for part of the drive. The Jacob's Lake Lodge has some GREAT cookies. A great place to take a break.

Thanks. I really need to go to school on the elevations and conditions in that neck of the woods. Such a great adventure augmented by 🍪 cookies.
