Lippert 6 point hydraulic storage

I have a 2020 raptor 356 with the lippert 6 point hydraulic leveling system. I have had some small issues with it and am now starting to get the popping/cracking noise now that we’re getting into the summer months. I did a search and found the cat fluid add and will be doing it soon in hopes it can make it a little better.

My question is when not in use is it better to use the front jacks just as the landing gear or is it better to level the rig and keep all jacks planted to the ground when In storage at home. I use the rig at least once per month sometimes more so it doesn’t sit for long. My logic would be that I could take some weight off the front jacks to even the load out but I did see the landing gear is rated for a lot more weight.

Good question...will be following this thread. I put my jacks down when stored and keep them down to add stability - but I live in a windy area. Additionally the jacks are down all the time for full timers!

I don’t think it really matters. Think about how long a new unit sits on the sales lot. I can bet that nobody at the dealership goes around putting all the jacks down, as you would have to retract the rears every time you needed to move one. We never set all the jacks down at previous employer for the 5 yrs I was there.

The "cat fluid add" is a hydraulic additive from Caterpillar. I couldn't find it locally and searched Amazon and came up with TORCO Racing Motorcycle Fork Oil, which was mentioned somewhere as a substitute for the CAT additive. I hooked the 5th up to the truck and retracted all jacks. Marked with a red Marks A Lot where full was. Used my Harbor Freight siphon tool (marine gas primer bulb) to siphon all the hydraulic fluid out of the tank. Poured the quart of fork oil in the reservoir and then filled to my mark with Valvoline Synthetic Transmission fluid.
It helped a little.
edit add...just noticed you're from Houston..welcome to the forum neighbor.

My preference is to keep jacks up, it makes for less potential paths for insects and rodents. However, one could argue that jacks down acts as a theft deterrent.

The trailer doesn't care either way so do what makes you sleep better.

If your parked in a storage facility, some require that you only use the front landing gear so it could be moved in an emergency. Check with the management of your storage facility.

We keep ours down to help take weight off of the tires and suspension. The "anti-stiction" fluid additive directive from LCI is attached. I haven't done this (yet) because I haven't noticed any significant creaking or poping from our system.

I bought a quart of Maxima Fork Oil For $10 from a motorcycle shop that was close to my office. Initially I thought I had to use CAT fluid but the CAT dealer was on the other side of the moon! Sucked out a quart of fluid with a turkey blaster and put the new quart in. Cycled the slides in and out a few times. This stuff fixed my popping.
