Parking my Avalanche 333MK not in use

When I park my 5er in the RV lot when not using it, do I just extend the front jacks? First 5th wheel and going to pick it up on Tuesday and move it for the first time....

I don't think there are jacks on any fifth wheel. Do you mean the two legs in front that support the weight of the camper when not hooked up to a tow vehicle? If that is the case, I suspect you need to extend them and attempt to keep the trailer as level as possible while stored.

I'm new to 5th wheels , but Lippert calls then this:

Lippert Level Up automatic leveling jacks

So that is the term I use. I just wanted to know what everyone does when NOT using the trailer and it is in storage. Just the front jacks down or all the jacks down.

The front jacks on a fifth wheel are often called the landing gear. Anyway, you can use just them or if you wish, you can use auto level and use all 6.

If you do use auto level make sure your truck is pulled away before hitting that button as the system will drop the front end first.

I use all 6. When it comes time to use it again I wipe off the legs with transmission fluid to remove any dirt from rain splashing, etc...

Jacko,

You started your first post with, "When I park in the RV lot..."

If you're storing your fifth wheel in a commercial storage lot, some require that you NOT use the leveling system or lower any jacks (except the front "landing gear"). They require this for safety reasons. In the event of an emergency, if they need to move your RV away from a fire, or to access something and it's in the way, if the leveling system is down, the trailer is immobile and can't be moved.

Check with the storage lot management to see if they enforce any specific rules regarding use of the leveling system. Some do, some don't.....

You will need to use the front landing gear to unhitch.

My storage lot does not have any restrictions that say the trailer must be able to be moved. So I use the auto level and have all 4 jacks extended. I also use a kingpin lock on the trailer, I want it to be harder to steal.
