Looking for an idea
I have a Hideout 308BHDS. With the high ceilings in this thing DW nor kids can reach the vent fan to turn it on. I'm thinking of trying to add a switch, next to the light switch, to power the vent fan. I usually leave the vent open, I have installed the Maxxair vent covers, so that shouldn't be an issue. I'm looking for any ideas or suggestions. Any one else done this?

Hi 5J's,
How about a pull chain? Works well in my unit and had installed it in 2013.
Just replace the push switch with a pull chain type.

On our previous trailer, I was able to snake a wire down to the bathroom light switch and added a switch to the bathroom light switch bezel. Just make the opening wider on each side. Bought the matching switch at CW.

maybe move that one to the bathroom and install one with a remote in its place..
The one in our kitchen is a wall mounted remote and I just added a manual one to the bath.. but handheld remotes are available..

Jsmith, this is what I was hoping for. How'd you get the wire to the switch? I would think the ceiling insulation would make it hard to get to the wall then to make the bend down the wall. Is there no top plate on the wall?

Its amazing how the things I am looking into doing come up on here. I am looking into doing the exact same thing and yesterday I explored the fish the wire down the wall thing. No go. For me to do this I would have to take the panel off the wall to get a hole through the top plate. Taking the panel off the wall means removing the door jamb. I can do the job, but do I want to do the job is my question to myself right now. My light switch is nowhere near the fan location to be able to do this from that location. Something so simple to do when in the building process the manufacturers don't do. I really don't get it. Minutes is money to them I guess.

Javi, I was kinda leaning that way but I know my kids would loose those remotes on the first trip out.
Srvnt, thanks for the link and pics.

This maybe the route I take. I'm pretty sure the location of my push button will not work for the pull string. So.....maybe add the pull string in the corner like you did. Thanks for the suggestion.

On our Cougar, the light switch was in the 45* wall behind the toilet. The fan was between the shower and the toilet. I was able to reach where the wires for the lights came up from the wall switch. Then I was able to snake a wire down through the same hole to the new switch.
Our current trailer is not so easy. I can't reach or see where the wires come up out of the wall and I can't seem to find it with a snake. I don't want to remove the wall panels, so I am thinking of buying a scope from HF. Or let the DW keep using the stick I made to open the vent.

If the existing switch is a push button type switch, why not just get a dowel that can be used by the short people to push the switch button on and off?

Use can use silicone or glue to mount a remote like a switch so it doesn't walk away.
