Dinette Table Leg Location

We have trouble getting into our dinette because of what I feel is poor placement of the legs as shown. Click image for larger version

The legs are 18" apart and closer to the table ends than the center. How far towards the center would you be comfortable moving the legs?

I saw a quote on another forum of 8" apart and further towards the outside edge of the table. I still want the table stable, but it would be good to actually sit at the table instead of sideways.

Thoughts from some more carpentry inclined individuals?

Thanks!

That was my post on the table legs. My “sockets” on the bottom of the table and on the floor we’re 12” apart. Now that’s not center-to-center. That’s ring edge to ring edge. O<-12”->O It is now 8” apart. My table still seems very stable. Now, your table may be bigger. Basically, I moved the “rings/sockets” closer together, 2” on each side and moved them outward (away from the dinette seat) about an inch.
There’s not a lot of room on that back cushion. I have my “beer belly” and there was no way I would even fit back there. Now, I think I could sit back there and eat or play cards, dominos, etc. especially if I toss that backrest cushion off.

Super happy to help. Think we’re gonna be sharing mods, upgrades, etc, a lot. So, your tat is the same as ours? An Outback 250URS?
There’s a lot I really like about the trailer. There’s nothing I really dislike except no locking bathroom door, no privacy curtains for the front bunk area and that spare tire setting back there blocking that rear storage area. I see one of those BAL undercarriage spare tire mounts in the very near future. I am for sure gonna build a support for that bed slide out to help when it’s retracted. I am also gonna examine my ac ducts. I suppose you’ve seen the posts on that. Not sealed at the unit very good, check for duct termination, reseal the divider form the hot side to cold side on the ac unit itself.
See ya, pal. Take care.

Yes, 2018 250URS. The spare tire was my biggest concern. My back won't allow me to lower the spare when the slide is out.

I did see the air duct threads. I am sure I will get around to that, but we only have power for A/C about half the time we camp. Half of that time we don't need it because we are camping at altitude. We went to the Dallas area in November and A/C wasn't needed, but we did have power that trip.
