No longer a half-ton man

It only took 2 trips this spring to convince me that my half-ton chevy just wasn't up to the task of pulling the springdale. On both trips I had a couple white knuckle moments. After that coaxed the wife into trading up. So now my question is, anyone towing with a 2008 F-250 supercrew, V10 with 4.10 gears and if so how big a trailer and what is the performance like? I will not have an opportunity to find out for myself until the end of the month. But so far it seems to be one heck of a truck.

Had one on the farm that we used for a 9 horse trailer that would run all day at 80 mph and 10 mpg

It will be much better than the 1/2 ton, but it won't beat a Diesel for sheer towing power.

On June 13 I bought a Springdale BH 267. I towed it 310 miles with my 2009 K1500 Suburban. Not to bad but it all that the suburband could handle. Yesterday I traded for a K2500. Much better. Heading on a road trip next week. I will post a report on the trip.

Went from a 2006 Dodge 1500 with a Hemi ,to a 2011 Dodge crew cab 4wd 3500 with the new 6.7L Cummings HO. Pulling a 26' Springdale.
Loaded my Yamaha Rhino in the bed 4th weekend and strapped on a fully loaded trailer.
Mountain passes were no match for the 3500.
Love the Jake brakes ! The power of the new Cummings is unbeliveable!
Towing mileage averaged around 12.8mpg going up steep uphill sections.
I'll never tow with a Gas engine again!

Yes, the diesels are no match for the gassers and towing. Happy Camping, Sam
