Replace Couch with Desk?
Hello,
I did search for couch removal and that seems to be relatively easy. I am looking at 5th wheels with the intention of longer trips/stays. Because I work from home, I can basically work anywhere I can set up a laptop with a second monitor.
So my question is has anyone removed the couch and install a desk?

I removed the couch and replaced it with recliners. For a desk I used a "lifetime" brand white top folding table (6') from Sam's. I set it up in the garage portion against the ramp and used short sections of pvc on the legs for levelling due to the beavertail. The table provided more than enough work space for laptop, printer/scanner, graphics tablet and elbow room for working with paper documents.
With the new "SMART" TV's, if you are working in your living room, you can use the TV as your second monitor. There are plenty of stand alone "desks" for laptops that are simply an elevated platform with a sliding "sled" base. These devices are marketed for use while sitting on the couch or in your recliner, the laptop sits on top and may or may not be angled, the apparatus is slid along the floor with the base usually going under your chair or feet. Some even have swivel ability.

We removed the couch. Put the dining room table where the couch was and placed a small desk where the table was.

I reduced the size of our dinette and installed a folding shelf for a desk. Removing the couch would be much easier. May not have enough room for a second monitor but you can get an idea of the room available.

We took out the dinette table and chair which we never used and installed a desk.

I love stretching out on the couch too much to remove it, but I have good friends who did just that. These RV's are really our home away from home so we need to do whatever to make them ours. Go for it!

We've removed it twice for long trips (nine and ten weeks respectively). LOML brings lots of sewing things to do and a couple of machines, so it's for tables & space & not a desk. Put it back afterwards though. Ours comes apart into three pieces. None was terribly heavy, but they are awkward. Much easier to get it in and out this way.
