Glass shelves in outdoor kitchen fridge

We are heading out later today and as I was preparing to stock our outdoor fridge with some "barley pop" (cold frosty beverages), I started thinking that lots of bouncing while going down the road might not be a good combination for some glass bottles resting on glass fridge shelves...

Has anyone had and good or bad experiences with stocking the outdoor kitchen fridge prior to departure?

We've had reports from a number of members who have experienced broken glass shelves from attempting to do what you're considering. A search should get you their experiences. Many have replaced the glass with wire shelves, other's simply don't load heavy things in the outdoor kitchen reefer.

I put a lot of miles on last year and had no problems even with glass bottles. I do always make sure the shelves are packed well enough so that bottles don't have room to move around. Another thing I did was placed a couple small pieces of foam on the edge of the glass shelf before I wedge it into the grooves. Also put a snap latch on the outside of the door to hold it closed while traveling.
