Air Bags
I am new to the RV world.... We just bought a new Fuzion 310 . We own a 2013 Chevrolet 2500 H.D with the 6.6 Diesel. When I had the B&W fifth wheel installed. I was told that I should think about having the air bag installed. My truck does not sag with the trailer. What if any difference will the air bags do. I look forward to hearing some feedbacks.

Installing air bags won't do anything to increase your payload or towing capacity but they might "soften" the ride. They do also help to level the two units but since you don't have any sag in the truck with the unit, having an air bag to help with this wouldn't be of any use. Unless your ride could be described as rough or harsh, I'm not sure whether or not buying and installing airbags would be of much benefit.

I would never tow a trailer with out airbags again. I've installed a set of PacBrake airbags on my 06 Dodge Mega 3500 and it made a would of difference in ride. Then again, my 3500 rides like a battle tank compared to your Chevy, you can't go wrong with them thats for sure.

Firestone Air Bags
I am having a set of Firestone air bags installed in my 2010 F250 today.
I am planning a camping trip foward the end of May. I'll post my experiences.
I am trying to take the advice of more experienced campers on this forum.

Just got back from our mayden trip with the new 395. When we hauled it home from the dealer it dropped the rear end maybe 2 inches. However once the unit was fully loaded with our gear it sagged quite a bit. A set of Air Lift bags is in the works. Other than the sag, the truck did great. Will report again after the install and next trip.

We have a Carbon 327 toy hauler and TV is 2010 F250 with over load spring factory installed. We installed the Firestone airbags with on board compressor and pressure gauges and they have worked great. Picks up the back end so I have no sag at all and the 5er sits perfectly level while in tow. The air bags also help with truck sway while cornering and with the onboard compressor, I can adjust the ride on the fly.
The air bags worked great while towing our 30 foot cabin cruiser boat this weekend too. Pumped them up to about 45psi to level out the truck and boat trailer and what a world of difference I felt as compared to last season with no air bags.
There is a bunch more stability with the air bags even with out a trailer. I would highly recommend installing airbags on your tv.

I have a raptor 297 tv 12 2500 Chevy gas. I originally just did air bags to get rid of sag I run about 40 pounds witch some say is too high .the ride is a lot smoother .I bought a set of load rite for 350 on eBay I think it is well worth it.firestones were closer to 475 I think

Yes I have air lift brand and they make my ride much better when towing as well. Made my first trip with them last weekend and was very pleased. I also installed a onboard compressor that I can adjust on the fly. Makes it easy.

Where to locate the onboard compressor?
I have purchased a set of Firestone air bags; but I have not installed them yet. I'm still thinking about where to install the onboard compressor. The instructions say to avoid any area that is subject to splash.
Where have you guys installed your onboard compressor?
I installed my upfit switch today, hoping to use aux-1 switch for the onboard compressor. However, the circuit breaker on the upfit switch is 25 amp while Firestone recommends a 30 amp inline fuse.
Will I be tripping the 25 amp circuit breaker everytime I activate the onboard compressor?

The set up I have has dual psi gauges, dual pressure release buttons and a single switch to activate the compressor. The installers did not recommend using the aux switches for this application because of the fuse amperage rating and the fact that the kit includes it all in one panel that is mounted just below the steering column.

Just ordered my Air Lift 5000 kit from Amazon. The manufacturer's price was $554.85. Amazon had them for $328.94 with free shipping and an $50.00 rebate. I think this will be a great addition to the truck. I didn't want the onboard compressor. While we were on our trip over the weekend, one of the other campers had the onboard compressor setup and about every 30-45 minutes the compressor kicked on and ran for just a bit. I don't know if he has a leak or something, but I don't want that constant battery drain and feel that due to the truck being my wife's everyday ride then the only time they will be pumped up is while we are towing the camper. Just my .02 cents and what I saw over the weekend.

My compressor only works when the ignition key is engaged and I have to physically press the button to turn on the compressor. If that guy's was running like that I believe he has some major problems.

I have the Pac-Brake airbags and I paid $299 from diesel performance products....I think that was the site. Anyways I don't have the on board compressor and I have made a trip from Michigan to New Mexico with no air leaks from my bags. I have a small pan cake compressor I carry with me in anyways.

I already have a pancake compressor I carry in the garage. So as far as needing the onboard air, I just couldn't justify the expense as of now. Maybe down the road I may add one, but for now what I have should do the job.

I have the air lift 5000 on my truck. I installed a compressor and it only runs when I press the button to increase the air or to let it out. Mine has no leaks. 6 days after I put air in it was still at the same psi I set it at. I would has he has a small leak.

I would diffently put them on...just bought 2015 Raptor 412TS with TV F350 SRW and installed Firestone bags and what a pleasure driving. Besides allowing more hitch weight they leveled the truck out prefect. The key to ensure having the correct air pressure. My bags are rated at 5000, so the tonque weight of camper was approx 3500 therefore I added 70% of the max rated psi which was 70 psi therefore 70% of the is around 50 psi. I added 55psi for good measure.

While adding airbags may make the truck and trailer more level and smooth out the ride somewhat, they do not increase the payload of a tow vehicle. Just because you have airbags, spring helpers or other similar suspension add-ons, that doesn't translate into being able to tow extra weight or "allowing more hitch weight". It might feel and looks like it does but it doesn't.

I keep seeing these threads. while I agree on paper, things may not add up, or "meet requirements" etc.
But do this as an example. Dodge 2500 SRW compared to Dodge 3500 SRW, both with same engines, trans, diff ratio, bed length etc.
2500 = 12,950
3500 = 16,900
Guess what the difference is between the trucks?
The rear spring, that's it, between the two trucks, the part number on the springs are different, everything else is the same.
In theory, they could probably call the 2500 with heavier rear spring by the old name everyone called them. "Camper Special" or "Heavy Half" or in this case, "Heavy 3/4"
Crazy eh?
